Cal Cunningham

The Washington Post:

Iraq war veteran and former state Sen. Cal Cunningham (D) will challenge Richard Burr (R) in 2010, reversing his earlier decision to opt out of the race and giving national Democrats a candidate they believe can oust the freshman North Carolina senator.

Cunningham is expected to make his intentions official early next week, according to informed sources, and will join a Democratic primary field that already includes Secretary of State Elaine Marshall and attorney Ken Lewis.

Ah, but does Rahm Emanuel like him? If so, the president will campaign for him, pronto.

To me, there is no such thing as a blue dog democrat. I don't see how these types keep wiggling their way into our party. Either you are democrat or not. We should have our own litmus test. For health care or not? For minding your own business?(I.E. Gay rights/marraige; abortion) Union? Support bringing troops home? Believe in climate change? (Which they are trying to swiftboat lately because of a couple e-mails!) Don't long for the,"good old days", and want some serious change? Understand that it's UNAMERICAN to drive toyotas, hondas & such w/ an American flag bumper sticker? Know what a teabagger REALLY does in private? Understand NO-ONE needs a gun/rifle that can shoot 135 bulets per minute, unless they are in Iraq, Afganistan, S. Korea, or some foreign land in a UNIFORM marked w/USA insignia? If you answer no to more than 1 of the above, recheck your political affiliation!

Just what the Democrats need another blue dog to stall the Senate.

And you think he's a blue dog because . . . . . . ? I get it. He's a southerner and therefore must be a blue dog. Perhaps you should tell that to uber-liberal Lloyd Doggett from TX or blue dog Kirsten Gillibrand from NY.

Any Democrat will be better than Burr.

I realize the Blue Pups can be frustrating, but they're still preferable to GOPers.

Back in the day when Jesse Helms was unbeatable I lived in New Jersey and used to get calls to donate money to defeat him. I donated and each time they came closer until he died, but they would have gotten him the next time.

Now I lived in North Carolina and am asking for the same help. Burr is very defeatable and their are three strong Democrats in contention. This man, Elaine Marshall and Bob Ethridge could all be him. So don't forget us when you are donating to Michelle Bachman's opponent.

This is a key Senate seat and we can win it!

Someone needs to play some chicken sounds on a bullhorn at Burr's campaign events.

Burr used to be a Democrat. Now that he's a Republican, suddenly he's concerned about the national debt. Which, ironically, was brought on by three GOP ex-Presidents.

Someday, you'll have to explain doubling the debt on creating the Americans versus adding to the debt in an attempt to invest in economic regrowth. Assuming you can think that far ahead or coherently enough.

If some of that "doubling" goes to health care to benefit all Americans, then it's money well spent. Not unlike your GOP ex-President heroes. Goes to show where your priorities lie.

Doubled by Obama in an attempt to undo what George Bush did in 8 years!
Of all the major financial crisis this country has had in the last 70 odd years the republicans have been in charge.
Are Americans stupid to keep electing these thieves?

Except that it hasn't doubled. Obama's yearly budget is DOWN from Dubya's last budget. You just have to be not mathematically challenged and add his wars and tax breaks, which were NOT included in the budget numbers.

It's time for those who wish to run to run for PUBLIC office to be willing to put up or shut up. As a reprensative of the America people it"s time to look FORWARD. Anyone can hod on the past becouse of fear. Our country has been dragged through the quagmire of fear
, We are supposed to br the inovaters, Thomas Alva Edison changed the world. America has the mental power, but has been bullied into submission by corporate interests. Stand up.
My greatest fear is lack of will at the 2010 elections. We know what has played out when we the people get lasy.
George Bush could happen again and it could come in the face of Sarah Palin. (SHUDDER)

This is the kind of work that needs to be done. We need real Demos, not Dinos. Then we will really get some things accomplished.

Keep fighting.

Oh just send a dial a hooker with a broken nail to Burr and get this over with.
The GOP can't turn away from a lady in distress.

Well first the republican machine will call Cunningham a coward and question his patriotism. Let the "swift-boating" begin!

Yeah, they'll wrap themselves in the flag and somehow swindle the more credulous voters into thinking the veteran is some sort of wimp in comparison to the chickenhawk football jock lawnmower salesman who never saw a blessed day from the inside of a uniform.

I can't wait. Goopers are only truly creative when it comes to finding ways to sully the reputation of those who served honorably and finding ways to get around the fact that their candidates are all talk when it comes to service and sacrifice.

I question the patriotism of a party who willing allows people to die needlessly and blocks all attempts to cure the problem. Republicans would turn the US over to multinational corporatism in a heartbeat.....isn't that what they have tried to do since Reagan?

THROW THE BUMS OUT!!!
