Hillary's New 'Do: Love It Or Leave It? (PHOTOS, POLL)

First Posted: 03/18/10 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 03:50 PM ET

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was spotted in Brussels, Belgium this morning with a new 'do: sort of brushed-back and poofy, all hairsprayed into place, with gray roots framing her face. Perhaps she's attempting to "denote gravitas and authority," à la Louis Licari, who believes that the hairspray look wields power. Maybe the gray is meant to show her natural beauty or indicate the wisdom that comes with age. Or...maybe she's just having a bad hair day.

I think she looks great with this style. Love the gray highlights. I can say that because my beautician neighbor likes MY gray highlights and naturally puffy hair.

Must say, too, that hair after menapause is a bear. Dry spots stick out, then it all gets dry and freaky looking.

Anyone over 60 who can keep that dry look from happening sure has my vote! I'm fighting it all the time.

I am not a Hillary fan but I say leave her alone. Her hair looks fine and stateswomanly. I hope when I get her age I can still hold it together. I can't see myself going the Demi Moore route and continually trying to look 25. At her age I may just let it all go and if so it would be my choice. If you don't like it then don't look at it.

Helmet hair for our war-hawk secretary of state?

It'd be funny if it weren't so bloody sad. So, yup...seems to fit the persona.

Her hair is far from helmet hair, that was a line in Steel Magnolias, Sally Field had helmet hair, not Hillary.

Hillary appearance has always left something to be desired, but lately she simply looks unkept. She has gained 50 lbs at least and doesn't take average pride in her appearance. She seems to be having difficulty keeping up the demanding pace that is being required of everyone in this administration.

Let's have a look at you when you've done half as much as she does. Now lets make you over 60. Oops, I bet we lost you entirely!

Let's post your picture and your resume next to Hillary's and have a vote.

Her hair? Take it or leave it? I say whatever makes her happy.

Very pleased to have Hillary as our SOS. She's a woman to admire. And heck, her kid is getting married after she finished school and before she got pregnant. I guess these days that's considered "elitism" instead of family values (it's hard to keep up with the right; they're constantly moving the bar to fit what's most expedient for them), but it's nice to see politicians who don't sell their kids' privacy out. Though she doesn't sell herself as a hockey mom, Clinton was a great mother with a brilliant legal mind of her own.

Hillary is a smart, savvy woman. Enough with the hair issue that has plagued her in the press forever. I could care less what her hair looks like.

She's not a beauty queen, contrary to some others (Palin) - nor does she pose in short shorts and get plastic surgery until she looks like a muppet. She actually stands for something.

I second that. So on target, but I'd just like to add this: it makes her much more of a commanding presence than she already is. And in this day and age, I think that's something we need right now, and Hillary proudly serves her country well...regardless of hairstyle.

Truly a one of a kind woman, and certainly a role model for young women in this country (and I praise her to no end in bringing up my two girls 13 and 8). I may have voted for and still support President Obama in the primaries and the election, but if she were to run for President...I'd most definitely would vote for her. Who needs beauty when you have brains?

I don't care about her hair. I care about her performance. She's doing a great job. Forget the hair.

It is always nice to look good while doing a good job. She is actually the only one that doesn't look harried. Maybe staying away from Washington and getting frequent breaks is good for one's health., although it might not apply to the president that is aging quickly.
