I really like his music. But he's cuckoo.. I'm amazed that he's still alive at all.

Did anyone see how arrogant George was on the X Factor in the UK this week? Looks like he has lost the plot. Clip is here:

To Icorps..

No I am not say that.. Stop over simplifying this into a Fisting party for the Devil...

No I do not believe the State can dictate monogamous behavior.. but seriously.. Why Lead a sexually restrictive lifestyle if You Can't get married, can't combine assets and can't raise a family together? and can't make end of life decisions for a life Partner ? It just seems unfair to tell Homosexuals that they have to play it straight when we won't really let them..

Could it be that losing loved ones makes one shun fame and fortune for escape and the old fashioned ins and outs? Michael sings a good Xmas song in Last Christmas. Let's lay off him this holiday season.

That is what I think when I see the packs of roving sorority girls sweep through a bar on Friday night.... with their panties tucked into their purses

I have a theory about homosexuality in general and some specific personality trends that George Michael (and Tiger Woods and Bill Clinton and Larry Craig) seems to prove:

Nature is fighting man just as man is overtaking nature. Our proclivity to "go forth and prosper" must be kept in check on some level, or the planet will have no hope of long-term sustainability. I believe homosexuality is no more a choice than eye color or height. A portion of our population, while burdoned with the same sex drive (if not even more accute) as everyone else, has been set up to fail with regards to procreation. Their natural impulses are towards actions that do not allow for breeding.

Similarly, I believe more and more that many of us are born self-defeating. Clinton could have been one of the most successful presidents in our history, had he only kept it in his pants. Woods might have rode that wave of public admiration for years still. Madoff would have been wildly successful without the ponzi scheme. Remember that Bush advisor who was caught shoplifting from Target a few years ago? He took $15K work of merchandise over the course of a year while he made $150K in his cush job. Why? He didn't need the money.

George Michael embodies both of these theories. No matter how successful we become, we are all capable of destroying ourselves from within due to impulses many are incapable of keeping in check.

I think in George's case, he lost the love of his life and never recovered. His habits have begun to define him, and that's extremely sad. Musically I hold him in the same regard as Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, and Prince. He should take the advice of his peers, and listen when they reach out.

Well a least he's not whining about being the victim of some imaginary disease like most users (who get caught) do.

The man is being honest. He may change his mind later as circumstances dictate, or he may be simply say this that was a period of my life, I tossed the dice and this was how it went. Either way for a celebrity to put his honesty before his profit run image making is a man to be admired for that and that alone.

Sex with a large number of total strangers combined with heavy drug use----- this model was a boon for my employeers business. It was a boon in the early 80's. And it is a boon today. Somethings do not change all that much.

But when you have have worked for the Centers for Disease Control this boon in business is not seen as such a good thing.

I agree. However, the postulate that it is cottaging (as they call it in the UK) which is responsible is plain wrong. It bespeaks of a puritain and frankly rather homophobic attitude towards sex. People who are casual with their partners and themselves come from all walks of life, all ranges on the spectrum of human sexuality, and in all kinds of different places.

If I had to pinpoint one epicenter of the resurgence of the epidemic, it would be the circuit party. These however are huge economic institutions in the host cities, so we cannot criticise them. Much better to attack the fringe, the working class, the closeted. They are much easier targets, and don't sue, own the gay press, or are fabulously wealthy.

Gay men bore the brunt of the crisis, through no fault of their own. The 70's were a time of exploration and expression for everyone. Gay men died for it. The best, the brightest, the most beautiful. In droves. The next generation was left rudderless, and at the mercy of the insecure survivors and their designs, peopel who live basically only through paranoia.

So now we have an unsustainable lifestyle marketed incessantly at us. The male impulse is to be denied, manipulated, exacerbated, extrapolated. Where is desire, where is love, where is community? No, we have lost all of these things, We are just another demographic now, albeit a rather cannibalistic one. But I run on...

Jim, I most likely agree with you in much of what you say. But I could also argue the opposite with no problem.

Yes the 70's were a wild and wonderful time. Heavy duty sex with all kinds of people and a liberal use of drugs. What is not to like?

But the gay community was different in its approach. Much more heavy duty than the straight side. And it was the heavy duty that led to the aids outbreak every bit as much as the virus itself in many ways.

Copious amounts of fisting and poppers in the tubs followed by anal sex with many. This was ground central for the outbreak. Not some bathroom or park encounter no matter how many bathroom or park encounters said person might have.

But this excess was seen by many as some kind of civil right. protected and defended long after we understood the mech for transmission.

But this excess is also IMO only a male approach (gay or straight) to sex taken a bit to far.

Tiger is not a great exception. Nor are those crusing gay pick up spots today. A large number of those cruisers being straight married guys. A much larger % than many realize.

Its a complicated and interesting issue.

Please stay safe and cover up at night.---- (that is the extent of my preaching)

Well, at least, he's open. Somehow, that doesn't seem so bad. Icky, yes. Not terribly healthy, definitely. But I can't find much outrage toward someone who doesn't pretend to be holier than thou, or even, well, clean! Kind of makes me like him.

When you use words like "clean" and "unclean" to define sex, you speak more about yourself than the person whom you are describing. Here's a hint: our bodies are, so to speak "unclean". Clean is an image that companies sell to your fear to get you to buy things you don't need. Sex is about smells, fluids, sweat. It has always been thus, and will always be thus.

It is more likely for you to get sick (from a pathogen) in your own kitchen than a loo. As for anonymous s.ex, it is usually or/al or mas/turbatory in nature. The transmission risk for HI.V/ is very low for theses activities. Other STD's anyone can get, anytime, so the location isn't the issue. I'm glad at least you admire him for his openness.

The bobbies already know there are gay liason officers up at Hampstead Heath.

Cruising is tolerated. A sensible establishment attitude to a victimless crime.

That's what's so commendable about the straights: they keep their s e x lives to themselves. They never ever run around with cocktail waitresses or parade the cuddly products of their conjugal relations before the cameras.....

George Michael is/was/is/was/is a great talent. I don't know if he is in psychological pain, self destructive, or just marching to his own drumbeat, but he clearly wants to live the life that he talks about. Certainly, he is saying very unequivocally to the world of concerned and judgmental people "back off and leave me alone".

The guy has talent. But it's obvious he has let himself slide into a rut. I hope he can work it out. He has a lot to offer.
