The Most Outrageous Fast Foods Ever (PHOTOS)

Huffington Post   Eve Solomon   First Posted: 03/18/10 06:12 AM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 03:50 PM ET

Here at HuffPost Green, we think that fast food often embodies what's wrong with how America eats: it's fast, cheap, and easy. Today's concerns about obesity and sustainability is causing many fast food restaurants to at least offer some lower calorie and "healthier" options. Despite the trends, the fast food and chain restaurant industries still boast an abundance of highly-processed high calorie foods and factory-farmed meat. Whether you eat at McDonald's daily or refuse to touch the stuff, check out this slideshow of some of the most extravagant fast foods past and present. From a 4-patty burger to the cheesiest of cheese fries, Huffpost Green explores some of the heaviest food options out there.

Vote for the foods you think are the most over the top.

Deep Dish Pizza

The most fattening of deep dish pizzas comes from Uno's Chicago Grill, a chain that Health Magazine has rated one of the healthiest restaurants in America. The health rating is thanks to the chain's rejection of all things trans-fat and abundance of grilled menu items. However, Uno's still indulges in its 'Chicago classic' deep dish, topped with pork sausage and worth a whopping 2,300 calories.

We call them fast food because they can get prepared quickly. I now realize that they have that moniker because they kill us quickly.

I wish I had figured out or cared sooner what this stuff does to you ... I'm about to turn 60, and certainly don't eat these big chunks of whale blubber anymore (never ate most of it, but bacon and cheese and the Awesome Blossom ...). I figure the damage is still done. I have a male friend from college who became a vegan long before it was fashionable, and his most recent physical showed him to have the circulatory system of a "20-year-old." He's no ascetic -- he's married, with a successful career and a side interest playing jazz guitar. Rich life, just no junk food. I'm guessing no Viagra, either.

Getting an animal-style burger at In-n-Out only adds the fried onions. Yeah, it's greasier than fresh onions, but either way onions have been shown to break up long-string fatty acids in the blood.

And in defense of In-n-Out, they also offer a protein power option, which gives you slices of lettuce in place of the higher-calorie higher-carb white bread bun.

perhaps it's time for a nationwide dialog on our national symbol. the eagle has served us well but why not something more representative of who we are these days as well as how we are perceived by the rest of the world. i'm thinking Jabba the Hut.

Most burgers are far healthier if you omit the mayo or 'special' sauce. And no more than 2 patties. But we dont need laws about these things. We have more than enough bureaucrats already.

a vegan walks into an upscale french eatery and tells the owner/waiter, "i'd like the cabbage, some turnips and carrots and nothing else!" clearly put off owner says to her, "Madame, this is a restaurant, not a meadow!"
