You may know Bobby Bottleservice as one half of the Ed Hardy Boyz -- a crime-fighting force for all that is douchey in the world -- but now he's on his own, trying out for the new MTV show "Jersey Shore." Bobby, like many Italian-Americans, think "Jersey Shore" is a "minstrel show," but that hasn't stopped him from auditioning. He promises to "win" (despite the fact it's not a competition-based show) and respect women by not calling their breasts "cans." Amazing.

Good programming provides us with built-in commentary through nuanced connections between a subculture and our broader culture. Jersey Shore frustrates me because there is absolutely none of this commentary.
