Brandon Jennings' Twitter Fine: Tweet Costs Bucks Rookie $7,500 (PHOTO)

The NBA has fined Brandon Jennings $7,500 for a tweet written after a double-OT victory in Portland on December 12. The content of Jennings' tweet was hardly controversial -- he merely expressed his joy at team returning to a .500 winning percentage:

Back to 500. Yess!!! "500" means where doing good. Way to Play Hard Guys.

But Jennings violated an NBA rule barring players from tweeting until after players have finished speaking with the media after games.

In late November, ESPN.com punished writer Bill Simmons for writing negative tweets about two radio hosts at a network that partners with ESPN. More recently, Texas Rangers pitcher C.J. Wilson tweeted that he was "borderline offended" by a trade offer for him. And just yesterday, a Bills linebacker trashed a new teammate via Twitter.

Jennings has enjoyed a breakout rookie year, highlighted so far by a 55-point performance last month against Golden State

He seems like a really good guy. I'm not a Bucks fan but I heard good things about this guy, professionally and off the court. He apparently doesn't drive and lives close to the Bradley Center and walks to practice.

Stern, find something else to look into...like maybe your awful officials. Leave the nice ones alone

Good for the NBA. Take away the toys and make them concentrate on the game they are being paid a lot of money to play and win at. Due all that other stuff when you get out of the arena.

The NBA might have a huge gambling scandal on its hands and THIS is what Stern's BVD's are in a bunch about?

He should be fined for using where instead of were!

How about we fine you for not using either of those words correctly. It's we're, Einstein.

And here I thought the fine was because he spelled "we're" as "where." A much more grievous error than celebrating too soon, in my book.
