Josie Brooklyn Duggar

people.com:

"Josie is doing as well as can be expected for a baby at her age. We are taking each hour as it comes," says Michelle, who has been released from the hospital. "We feel so blessed that God has given us to her and are cherishing every moment with her."

I just want to know, how many do you all really want. There are kids out in this world that needs a family, and God said help people in need. So what about all of the children in need. Or are you just worried about making money and impression on people. So what about Mrs Duggars family, why dosen't anyone talk about them and why do we not see pictures of them with the kids. Looks like they would want a part of their life.

I'm a Christian and there is nowhere in the bible where you are told to check your brains/ common sense at the church door. No two people can reasonably raise 19 children on their own without unfairly making their other children co-parents to children they did not choose to have. She's over 40, they already have 19 children plus a grandchild. It's time to stop.

Now might be a good time and (profitable) for MR. Duugar tosign-on as the spokesperson for one of the mjor condom companies - his shpeel,
"After my wife and I had 19 children, we decided it was time for the safety of a condom, Whether by choice or by god, NOT having more children is always a GOOD CHOICE"

At first glance, I was very angry with this family. Being an adopted person and an atheist, I detested the entire idea of producing so many more people. However, there is nothing negative I can say about the Dugger's other than I wish they would have opened their hearts to children that desperately need a family.

The Duggers are 100% financially responsible for their family, they have no debt, work hard and planned to have a brood this large. They do not live on the government or tax-payer's money. They obviously love all their children and not a one of them needs for love or attention.

Perhaps we should be focusing this need to judge others on parents who are in massive debt, living on aide and milking the welfare system with child after child. For as much as I would never want to live as they do, I don't see any foundation for complaint.

All good points, but I wonder if they could afford this large family if they did not get a paycheck from their reality show, though.

When it comes time for college, THE TAXPAYERS will be paying for these kids.

We have a daughter who was in the top 8 in her HS class, couldn't get an academic scholarship other than $1000/year from the university she attends. Her tuition, at a public university, is $20,000 a year. Housing, fees, books, NOT included. As her parents, we are paying so she doesn't graduate with over $100,000 of debt. Thank goodness we are able to help her.

The only financial aid she is eligible for is LOANS.

A local family with 8 kids, the government pays for 100% of the education for the 3 now old enough for college, because the household income can't support 3 college students, and 5 kids still at home.........they are nice people, but their children graduated with lower grade points than our daughter did. Their grants are income/family size based.

The financial aid formulas and schedules help out those families with more kids than they should have had. Those of us responsible enough to use contraception just have to pay whatever it costs.

NO ONE should be having 19 children. In the interest of equity, replace yourselves (mom and dad), and maybe have one or two more, but 19??? SELFISH.

We have 2 kids, one born when I was +40. I speak from experience when I say it is hard on your body and dangerous for the child in the most perfect of circumstances.

This woman needs a tubal.

What a bitter post. I would be upset as well if my child missed out on help with college because of a large family, but you have just interjected your personal situation onto this family. So far none of the family has voiced ANY interest in higher education and even if any of them do, I am certain that a family who paid CASH for their very large home can foot college expenses.

I also have two children and when my husband finishes his military career we will be adopting. I agree the planet is overpopulated and am not fond of the idea of many people having huge families. If they can do it on their own dollar, more power to them.

Perhaps you should rotate in a pediatric ER and watch all of the welfare families with five plus kids who neglect them and live on your dollar before you throw such hate at a loving and financially responsible family. Do you realize you just posted on a news story about their infant in the intensive care unit that she should have a tubal? Perhaps a little advance planning would have helped you with college expenses, your tuition battle is hardly this families fault or issue.

19th child?!!! WHY???
03:47 PM on 12/19/2009
why have 19 children? because you can? Makes no senses
05:06 PM on 12/19/2009
Because it is a free society. And if you don't want any kids, that's ok too (although it doesn't make alot of sense to me)....it is all between you and your Dr.

Now that the Duggars are reality TV stars, all rational behavior has ceased. Michele must produce more and more babies to produce higher and higher ratings.

In god's hands? Sounds like the baby is in medical science's hands!
02:12 PM on 12/19/2009
If they really wanted a houseful of children to care for and love, why couldn't they have adopted after having a few of their own? That would be something to admire and even celebrate- to care for children who otherwise would not have a home. Just a thought. Yes, children are precious, but many are languishing without parents and homes of their own. How pure are the motives of the Duggars? Just wondering....
03:56 PM on 12/19/2009
It is every woman's right to have as many children as she wants just as it is also every woman's right to have as few. Michelle should be the new poster woman for pro-choice as her decision is totally in line with their stand.

Then it should be my right to refuse my tax money being used to supplement people who show no restraint or responsibility.

Their real motive? Conservative Christians are fearful of racial/political demographic shifts. They need to breed large numbers of white children to counter or provide 'racial balance' to increasing minority populations.

As with most pregnancy terminations, the only people who know for sure the reasons for the decision to end a late term pregnancy is the Mother and the Doctor. Michelle Duggar is no different. She, for whatever reason couldn't cope, whether physically, mentally, emotionally, or spiritually with continuing the pregnancy. That is her right...and every woman's right.

What are you talking about? This baby had to be delivered early because of health problems of the mother. This was not a termination option, and the mother should not be having number 19 under any circumstances.
05:04 PM on 12/19/2009
And I don't judge her for her decision. Other women might have put the child first, but Michelle wasn't willing to risk her health. Fine. That is what pro-choice is all about.

the duggars seem like a nice family. they seem like good parents raising respectful, hardworking children. so i say, fine have as many kids as you like. but, at some point realize that maybe your body will say no more. it really isnt cool, to keep pushing the limit. will this make them finally realize that maybe 19 is enough?
03:15 PM on 12/19/2009
19 kids.... enough already. Sure it gets you a TV show and on Today. I also noitce hair cujts now for the females, not used clothes anymore and buses and vehicles to haul aroiund the clan. The moire kids the more their profits. Nineteen kids? How in the world aren't all her organs not falling out? Nineteen children is not hjealthy for a body. Have another and I bet someone other than your insurance will be paying the bill you can't afford. I bet they'll never be able to pay the intensive care bill for this premature baby even with all the TV shows.

I'm sorry it was in their hands when they decided to get pregnant again. People need to stop blaming God for their decisions.

It wasn't their hands that we should worry about....TLC should be ashamed for publicizing this family and their fundamentalist beliefs.

If their child survives, it will be medical science that saved the child, not "god." If they have so much much faith that god will take care of everything, why did they go to the hospital in the first place? Why did they not stay home and pray & believe that god would magically cure Michelle's gallstone and ensure an event-free delivery of yet another child? I mean "ask and ye shall receive" right?
01:53 PM on 12/19/2009
Right. It is totally hypocritical to be so dependent on medical resources and hard science to save your child, then not give credit to the doctors and science that allowed the baby to live, and say it's all in god's hands. How thankless to the hard work of the doctors.
12:16 PM on 12/19/2009
Do these people not realize the world is overpopulated?
