Palin

Los Angeles Times:

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has never made any bones, if you will, about her culinary preferences. She's a carnivore, a hunter and proud of both.

So it's not really a surprise that her book, "Going Rogue," published today, extols the virtues of eating meat.

Well, this may be off topic, but I am doing it for Ann. The quitter gov who played a big h/o/a/x on the American public. The quitter gov was not pregnant during her partial term in office. Judge for yourself.

To eat meat is one thing. To eat meat without compassion for the animal is quite another. She has no conscience. THAT'S what is deplorable,

We must do much more to stop C02 from destroying the planet. Vegans have a carbon footprint 3 to 4 times that of carnivoires due to their massive intake of beans. Thousands of acres of forest land are destroyed every year for vegetable farming. A 10 acre poultry farm can feed more people than 300 acres of soybean fields and keep a much smaller carbon footprint. We need to start charging all vegans a 10% carbon tax and give tax incentives for poultry farming...the polar bears are counting on us!!

"If God had not intended for us to eat animals, how come He made them out of meat?”

The same thing could be said by a cannibal of people. Like much of what falls from her mouth, this is less a "philosophy" or reasoned argument and more a post hoc justification.

That's what keeps Kenyan clowns safe,... the cannibals say they taste funny.

or, just possibly, she was reiterating a very old joke and you're taking it as a serious argument. But that cant be, cause that would make you a ridiculous caricature of a liberal...

Although I too, am an omnivore, I would NEVER, EVER make fun of, or demean someone who is not an omnivore! This woman is insulting.

Where in the article did she demean someone who is not an omnivore? Did I miss the insult?

I wish someone would explain to SP that humans are omnivores. We eat both meat and plants. We are like pigs and bears. Everything in its season works for me. Cats are true carnivors. Its why you can love them but can't completely trust them ; )

Her book was not published today. Why are you running an old and irrelevant article?

It doesn't come out until tomorrow. The article is actually in anticipation of the books release. Anyone know the title?

I used to hunt the old fashioned way. Go out in the woods and stalk your game or sit under a tree, on the ground, and end it with a clean kill. I live in a rural area and see deer walking around with arrows still stuck in them from overanxious hunters who couldn't wait for a clean shot. Yesterday I saw a Cabelas ad on tv for deer "bait" that you can hang on a bush that will attract a deer from a mile away. All you have to do is sit in your comfy tree stand and wait. Also, don't get me started about the "game farms" where penned wildlife are baited with feed and apples and so-called hunters sit in a blind 50 feet away and wait for the unlucky animal to come to feed. Hunting today has degenerated to shooting fish in a barrel and some of the methods used are shameful, particularly shooting from a helicopter.

Couldnt agree more.
(except maybe the "helicopter" remark if you're referring to the Alaska predators shot from helicopters. That's a thinning effort, not hunting. It's not intended to be sporting...just effective).

there's room for all of Alaska's animals, right next to the mashed potatos. That's just funny.

Sigh. Most people eat meat. Most people have the baby after getting pregnant. Most people with handicapped family members love them regardless of their handicap. She is not the only one with a son in the military or who has a Down Syndrome child. She is not the only one whose teen daughter got pregnant. Why does Palin act as though these are extraordinary things that she deserves credit for?

If the only advise she gave her daughter regarding sex was to practice abstinence, I'd say she deserves a lot of credit for Bristol's unplanned pregnancy!
