Colorado Unemployment Fund Expected Run Out Of Money In January

Colorado's unemployment trust fund will run out of money in the next few weeks, forcing the state to borrow from the federal government.

It will not affect laid-off workers drawing unemployment benefits, but many businesses can expect higher unemployment taxes until the fund is back in the black.

"The good news is, there will be no impacts on the average claimant. They won't notice a thing," said Wayne Peel, chief financial officer for the state Department of Labor and Employment.
