A plane crashed in the Des Plaines River, south of the Chicago Executive Airport, this afternoon.
The crash took place in a forest preserve near Wheeling, and the plane was seen broken up into pieces.
The Chicago Tribune reports that the plane was on its final approach for the Chicago Executive Airport runway. It was cleared for the approach before it went down in the Des Plaines River.
The Tribune adds that a pilot and co-pilot were on the plane and their conditions are not known at this time.
