Earlier this month, Bono wrote an op-ed in the New York Times calling on U.S. automakers to bring in Apple's lead designer to help create a new line of cars, and bring about the return of the auto as "sexual object":

That's why the Obama administration -- while it still holds the keys to the big automakers -- ought to put some style fascists into the mix: the genius of Marc Newson ... Steve Jobs and Jonny Ive from Apple ... Frank Gehry, the architect, and Jeff Koons, the artist.

So what would an Apple car look like? And what would it be called? Click below to send us your photoshop creation, we'll post them as we get them! Show us what you've got!

If they did, besides being overpriced, they would take forever to figure out, almost no upgrade parts would be made for them, and they would have a fanatical following of college kids saying they were the best thing ever invented.

Use a Mac for a year and go back. You won't like it.

You're right, I wouldn't like to use a Mac for a year.

I would most definitely purchase an Apple designed car. How cool would that be?

Oh what a concept. The need for gas stations would be totally eliminated. Instead of gas stations, budding businessmen could simply put up a network of primping stations. Rather than gas pumps, each station would house brightly lit mirrors where the Apple cars would proudly fill with narcissistic self admiration as a substitute for fuel.

Imagine the joy of walking into the primping stations to be greeted with the self satisfying music of "I'm so pretty, I'm so pretty" being played in a non-stop loop.

I don't even want to think about the audio system in the cars. It would have to be some iTuned DRMed abomination that comes with some music gratis. The first song on the ITune radio. "I'm so pretty, I'm so pretty."

If Apple designed cars, well, if you think people talk about their cars too much as it is, just wait, the blabbering will deafen you. Apple people need to be reassigned to their own island so we don't have to hear from them. They'll need an app to backup, an app to go forward, an app to park, an app to tell them how smart the are, etc.

A 'tea-bagger' driving an iCar while talking on an iPhone is the sign of the apocalypse.

Mac owners are smug, but there is a reason for that.

Apple is making the right steps for the environment - but I find it hard to feel the eco-love for them yet.

They used to be the worst. They still fill the world with millions of plastic gadgets that are garbage after the battery croaks. Not exactly "green."

This concept is very simple. If Steve Jobs comes to you with a design idea, you sit down and listen.

If Apple designed cars, it will be beautiful just as ipods, macbooks, iphones etc... but it should not be at the expenses of my people. I called Apple to find out if its iphones are made up of illegal coltan coming from DRC but got not answer.

Please save my people. Don't be a complice against my people.

please stand up. Technology is good. I love it but not from the blood of others.

If Apple designed cars an economy car would cost $50000.

...but it would be a greater value than a Dodge Omni at 5000.

toyota could use some of Apple's help with the Prius controls.

WHY, for instance, should I have to turn the car ON instead of simply being able to put it in DRIVE.

It ALREADY sees my key fob.

The Prius needs a hand-brake like lever, or joystick, to control regenerative braking, so I can regen coming down hills while controlling my speed with the lever. Ditto for the Tesla.

the people designing hybrids and electric cars are thinking in the old mold.
