Can Extinct Animals Be Resurrected? (VIDEO)

The woolly mammoth and saber-tooth tiger may only be the stuff of legend today, but that may not always be the case, according to recent research on the possibilities of DNA technology. Using genetic engineering and cloning, scientists could potentially bring the extinct back to life, and sustain the life of endangered species, Lesley Stahl reported on 60 Minutes.

"Just last year, using only a few clumps of woolly mammoth hair, scientists at Penn State were able to extract enough DNA fragments to figure out most of its genetic sequence, making the woolly mammoth the first extinct animal to have its genome decoded" Stahl said.

And that's just the beginning.
