Daveco Liquors In Thornton Accused Of Operating Illegal Monopoly

THORNTON - The world's largest liquor store could be closed over allegations its owners violated Colorado's liquor laws by operating a "hidden ownership" that results in an unfair monopoly over other liquor stores in the metro area.

The Sawaged family, which owns Daveco Liquors in Thornton and Davidson Liquors in Highlands Ranch, acted as agents for each other in purchases and contracts, even though they were not licensed to do so under Colorado's liquor law, according to an investigation by the Liquor Enforcement Division of the State Department of Revenue.
