Former Senator John Edwards recently went on a "sex-and-booze" bender, during which he tried to bring home 34-year-old bartender Stephanie Breshears and women young enough to be his daughter, according to The National Enquirer.

Following up on the story that they broke, the tabloid says that it happened on North Carolina's Figure Eight Island at a bar near the Edwards's vacation home. The National Enquirer:

...bartender Stephanie Breshears revealed that Edwards repeatedly tried to get her to go back to his house for sex.... [Bresears] said Edwards hit on her "for four consecutive nights" at the local Kornerstone Bistro....

"I think he's scum," Stephanie told The ENQUIRER....

If the Enquirer's report is correct, it means that Edwards rang in the new year alone. Breshears goes on to say that when she declined Edwards' offer, he hit on other women right in front of her.

Edwards's infidelities with filmmaker Rielle Hunter are chronicled in Game Change, a new book about the personal stories of candidates in the 2008 presidential election. According to authors John Heilemann and Mark Halperin, Edwards' affair with Hunter sparked a 2008 confrontation with his ailing wife Elizabeth. Edwards allegedly cornered her husband, ripped open her blouse and screamed "Look at me!"

John Edwards has admitted to an affair with Rielle Hunter, but has not claimed to be the father of Hunter's daughter who is almost 2 years-old.
