Haiti's Elderly: Relief For The Most Vulnerable

Haiti's Elderly: Relief For The Most Vulnerable

Of the hundreds of thousands of displaced people in Haiti, none are more vulnerable than children and the elderly. Earlier today, the Associated Press reported on a hospice in Haiti desperate for aid. A hospice administrator said that without food or water, many of the residents won't make it through another night.

The AARP Foundation has established a disaster relief fund specifically for Haiti's elderly citizens. This fund will make it easier for HelpAge International to distribute necessary resources to these populations.

The situation is Haiti is dire enough for senior citizens, but consider how the AIDS epidemic forces many of Haiti's elderly to take care of their grandchildren. As the sole caretakers, the relief becomes even more important, as the lives of children are also at stake.

Contribute to the AARP Haiti Disaster Relief Fund and 100% of your donation will go directly to saving lives on the ground.
