The White House gates aren't usually a romantic spot, but it seemed like the only option for former Obama campaigner Franco Ripple, who popped the question to his fiancée Ashley Ligas right there on Pennsylvania Ave.

The pair of recovering Obamaholics from Florida - he was a field organizer, she was a team leader coordinating volunteers - had come to D.C. for a weekend getaway.

This is lovely. I'm a Floridian too and send my enthusiastic congratulations. Obama people are so human and lovely. Among us one finds so little snobbery and such genuine regard for the human race and the good in it. I know that this couple will do well. They already honor our fair state with their distinction.

More of the same disrespect for the office and the White House.

Just like not wearing his suit in the oval office. George Bush made anyone entering the oval office wear a suit out of respect for the position.

Last year this time I was high on Obama. I had devoted a great deal of my time to his campaign. Yes, the state of 'high' has diminished somehow because now he has to face the realities of the office and some of us are disappointed because we thought he could whistle and water would 'turn into wine."
Real politics is more difficult than most of us want to think.
For the Obama team to have won me over was not easy... Not prepared to give up on him yet. Politics is a like a chess game some outstanding Players were the late President Lyndon Johnson. Mr. Obama is now developing his style. Soon the clouds will roll... a year into this office he's certainly learning about the bureacreacy and the plutocrats behind the scene many of whom run this country. Literally. Yes. He will, however, jumb the 'hoops' and win in the end. I am confident.
However to the two campaigners.. congratulations. Great place to get engaged. Will serve as reminder to the Obama juggernaut that a great deal of 'little' people made this happen. When the going gets tough... hang in there. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvYod0ezUS8
