Simon Johnson: Democrats Must 'Run Hard' Against The Big Banks If They Want To Win In November

baselinescenario.com:

The theme for the November midterms should be: Which part of the 8 million jobs lost [since December 2007] do you not understand? The big banks must be reined in and forced to break themselves up, or we'll head directly for another such crisis.

Instead, the Democrats have fallen into a legislative and electoral trap that -- amazingly -- they built for themselves.

The Democratic Party is owned by big banks. They're not going to run against the corporations that line their pockets.

Its not Obama, but the unfortunate choices he has made in those that surround him. Larry Summers who was one of the chief reasons we are in this mess (add Geitner to this list as well). Rahm Emanuel who has horribly mistaken the popular will and sold out progressives and allowed the GOP to frame debate time after time...add in a GOP that is in a slash and burn mode willing to destroy any and all things...and you have a republican senator elected in Mass. Lets not forget though, it would only take a simple majority to change the rules and eliminate the filibuster. I'm not sure why this is not being considered. Most Americans would love to see it go

"It's not Obama ... but his unfortunate choices".

Que?

Allow me to condense your non-sense ... "his" choices ... no one elses choice ... but "his".

You're an apologist to the very end.

Obama is failing to honor his campaign promises.

Doing so now is disingenuous and after the fact. Both parties are so corrupt now and this last year along with the 8 before that only prove it. Dems could have paved their own way instead they relied on the banks and insurers to get them through 2010 ans 2012. They will pay for it like the gop did in 2008. The gop is naive tho if they think people will just instinctively vote gop in 2010

So the electorate simply bounces back and forth like a ping-pong ball, voting in one party and then the other in the next election? What is that supposed to accomplish and how? We'd be better off trying to herd those cats that call themselves Democrats so we can get something of value from them.
