Taiwan Politicians Brawl In Parliament (VIDEO)

First Posted: 03/21/10 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 04:15 PM ET

A brawl involving over 70 lawmakers broke out in Taiwan's notoriously hostile parliament on Monday as opposing parties clashed over proposed amendments to a Local Government Act.

Reuters reports:

Members of the anti-China opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) wrestled and yanked the clothes of ruling Nationalist (KMT) MPs after commandeering the speaker's podium to block a law allowing local officials to be appointed instead of elected.

Three politicians were injured - one even reported being bitten by colleague.

That's what our politicians should do for us when it comes to compromise health care reform.

Man oh man....would I love to see that happen here.....a crowd of stuffed suits all slapping away
at each other like a bunch of little kids....what a total and complete lack of dignity our politicians
have.......it would be priceless to see them take the final step......rolling around on the floor........
slapping each other and pulling hair.........if they can't give us representation they could at least
give us something to laugh about.

Simple solution: build a plexiglass barrier between the parliament floor and the podium. And seriously, why would anyone want to name a building after a cigarette?

EXTREME EXAGGERATION. They were just flailing their arms and swatting each other's hands.

Is that what's happening behind close doors of the Democratic Heath Care Talks. No wonder why Obama doesn't want it shown on C-SPAN.

More like they're smoking Cuban cigars which the government secretly imports for them, drinking brandy, smashing their crystal goblets into the fireplace, and laughing at poor people.

Coming to a Congress near us? With the partisanship and lack of civility displayed in D.C. will we witness this from our elected officials? It's time to clean congress!!!
