First Posted: 03/21/10 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 04:15 PM ET

Since last Tuesday's earthquake in Haiti, a number of remarkable videos have emerged documenting the terrifying moments when the quake struck, as well as the chaos and confusion that immediately followed. In the video below, a missionary from Cincinnati, Rick Hursh, captures the moment at which the earthquake strikes the H.O.P.E orphanage in Port-au-Prince, causing terror among the young children who try desperately to escape.

The issue of orphans in Haiti is only going to get worse before it gets better. And now with so much confusion organizations like Unicef and MADRE are working hard to prevent slavery and trafficking. Its a horrible mess.

I blog in song at my site and wrote a song about this called DISASTER. If you are interested in learning more about how disasters affect women and children please listen:

My thoughts and prayers are with the children and people of Haiti. Their suffering before was unbearable, I don't know what to call it now. God help them.

OMG..... how awful to actually see a little part of it....

I'm so glad that the US and a few other Countries took all the orphans to their Countries to give them a better place to live for a while until things can be better for them in Haiti .... I'm sure they will miss their home but kids are resilient and will adjust OK....

they won't be going back to mos eisley and they are the really lucky ones cause their paper work is cleared away and made new.

i think that haiti might be done and its our new colony like puerto rico in the next few years.

its only missings a military base to house the troops already there.

the un can't and won't expend enough to rebuild this country and they could never pay it back anyway so after a some thought i really think thats how this will end up.

That is a very interesting point and I thank you for sharing that with us.

I never really thought about the prospect of Haiti becoming a US commonwealth, but considering the international debt forgiveness underway and the sheer devastation and rebuilding required, it might be the only way the country can eek out some sort of existence in dignity.

However, not that I consider the political climate in this country, I think the thought of Haiti becoming a commonwealth will only further divide us along political lines and create ammunition for the far right to use against our current administration.

Oh, those poor babies! For those that don't want to or have an issue with the relief effort, show them this.
