Cheryle Jackson, Democratic Senate Candidate, Has Lupe Fiasco Perform At Fundraiser

Just weeks before Illinois votes in the Democratic Senate primaries, the candidates are scrounging for every endorsement they can get. Cheryle Jackson's latest is closer to Hollywood than Springfield: rapper Lupe Fiasco will perform at a benefit for Jackson on Thursday, January 28.

Lupe, a Chicago native, has spent much of January raising money for various causes. Earlier this month, he joined Jessica Biel, Kenna, and others in the Summit On The Summit, a fundraiser in which a team climbed Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money and awareness for the lack of clean water worldwide. On Wednesday, he released a track with Kenna, a Grammy-nominated Ethiopian recording artist, to benefit relief work in Haiti.

His concert for Jackson will take place at The Shrine in Chicago's Near South Side, on Thursday the 28th at 8pm. Tickets cost $30, and proceeds go directly to the Jackson campaign. The concert comes as Fiasco prepares to release his long-awaited and much-delayed album, LASERS.
