Marc Jacobs To Be Knighted, French-Style

Designer Marc Jacobs will become a Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters) in Paris on Friday, WWD reports. Nathalie Rykiel, president and creative director of Sonia Rykiel will also receive the same honor. Both were picked thanks to their services to the fashion industry.

Jacobs was the Council of Fashion Designers of America Women's Designer of the Year in 1992 and has been at Louis Vuitton since 1997. He also has his own fashion lines. Rykiel has been president of her mother's company since 2007, and previously created numerous collections for the fashion house.
