Tracey Ullman's Rachel Maddow Impression (VIDEO)

Maddow Ullman

Tracey Ullman has a new media personality to impersonate this year: MSNBC's Rachel Maddow.

The comedienne known for her celebrity impressions — including, perhaps most notably, one of Arianna Huffington — previewed her Maddow impression on "Live! with Regis and Kelly" Monday morning.

In the previewed scene, Ullman impersonates Maddow in the MSNBC makeup room, what she says is her "least favorite thing about having my own TV show."

Ullman also appears as Arianna in the scene, getting her make-up done next to Maddow.

"Hello, Rachel," Ullman as Arianna says. "I haven't stopped talking since 'Morning Joe' when I picked apart the health plan debacle with Mika Brzezinski!"

WATCH:

"Tracey Ullman's State of the Union" premieres tonight, Monday January 25, at 10:30 PM on Showtime.

Tracey is great. She's been doing this for such a long time and still hasn't lost her edge.

Isn't Ullman about 60 years old now? Doing all these characters means you don't see how much she has aged, which is one way of dealing with the older woman and Hollywood casting problem.

Uh. Or maybe she does "all these characters" is her schtick and is still really funny. She did characters from the beginning of her career.

That's a great Arianna impression. Gotta fine tune the Maddow one.

I think Tracy should do more with that Barney Frank impersonation (not in the clip above). That was pretty good but could be funnier.

After watching the entire skit last night on Tracy's show State of the Union, it was hilarious. Not only did the skit include Rachel and Arriana, but Megan McCain and Barny Frank, all played by Tracy, all in the make up room together.

The Rachel does need a little more work, but that could be because Tracy has nailed Arriana & Barny Frank so much. Megan McCain was pretty decent too.

Say what you will about us lefties, we can laugh at ourselves.

Another poster said it before me, but I think if Tracy had smiled more, and brought out some the twinkle in Rachel's eye, she would have really nailed it. The glasses might have gotten in the way too, but overall she got the voice down pat. I really admire Tracy's work.

That's great! I have had a crush on Tracey Ullman since I was a kid in the 80s. I saw this on the RM show last night. Proof of how cool Rachel is that she would put it on her show even though I didn't think it was the most flattering impersonation of her.

I don't get the cable channel that Rachel Maddow's show is on but I caught her on Letterman. Very impressive. They traded glasses at the end of the interview. Brilliant woman. Tracey rocks.....her Arianna impression is hysterical.

@ontariogirl- You can access her show at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/ . Enjoy one of the most brilliant minds on television!

I completely agree. The smart people are on MSNBC. They seem to tell the truth more often too and confess an error if they make one. Not so with FAUX News. They begin with an untruth and expound on it nightly to make it SEEM to be true.

Rachel is brilliant !!!!!!

And this is one of the reasons FAUX news gets higher ratings. MSNBC isn't on everyone's basic cable package like FAUX & CNN.

In our town, if you don't use satellite but the local cable company, you have to move up to full price tiers $28 per month to get the package that includes MSNBC. The majority of hotels I've stayed at all have Faux and CNN but rarely MSNBC.

It's based on ratings. I like MSNBC too but it does garner more of a niche audience I'm afraid. Dare I say a more erudite and informed one?

The Maddow impression needs some fine-tuning. She needs to speak out of the side of her mouth more and chortle at her own "witty" lines.
