The New York Times:

Maybe it's easy to kick someone when they're down, as the saying goes. But Senator Claire McCaskill's public comments during a radio show Tuesday are the most recent -- and perhaps the most condemning of late -- among public officials about the disgraced former presidential candidate, John Edwards.

On the St. Louis radio show at KTRS, host McGraw Mcilhaven asked the Missouri Democrat what she would do if she ran into Mr. Edwards at a cocktail party. No hesitation on her part. She replied: "I think he's disgusting. I don't think the guy has a soul."

America is facing very serious often life threatening challenges in many social, pollitical, financial, military and environmental areas. That John Edwards is a double talking weasel effects only a few people plus media folks looking for time to fill and increased ratings provided by viewers killing time while waiting for the mail man to deliver their National Enquirer.

True enough, hwoodude. Still, as a constituent of Senator McCaskill, I've grown weary of her bashing fellow Democrats just to get a buzz in the press. Many of her targets are politicians that have raised considerable funds for her and hit the campaign trail for her. With friends like these.....

With the over abundance of corruption ion both sides of the aisle in the senate, one would think the Senator could find plenty of targets to chastise that are actively acting out in ways that hurt the country. But speaking out against fellow senators would take true backbone and leadership unlike this quick swipe at Edwards who is clearly out of the political arena for good.Former Sen. Tom Daschle

Senator McCaskill had the perfect opportunity to lead when former senator Tom Daschle was nominated by Obama to lead the health care efforts. Of course, you have to include Mrs. Daschle's lobbyist activities that allowed Senator Daschle to leave the senate as a multimillionaire. No worries about corruption though since Mrs. Daschle only lobbied members of the House. :-) Of course McCaskill does not find Daschle "disgusting", no she has deemed him a 'patriot'.

See what I mean? Looking for options in Missouri. We will start with a leader that will actually show up to our town hall meetings. I voted for McCaskill to represent me and I expect her to at least show up at meetings. Personally I find the senators actions cowardly AND disgusting.

I wonder if she found herself disgusting for telling Mitt Romney that she had spit on his microphone and ear-piece as he was about to begin that MSNBC interview last year?

The Senator being her opportunist self, again.

The part that makes me ill about Edwards is not the affair. It's the web of deception he created to hide the truth. This man asked an aide to take the fall for the product of his affair, a baby!!! He wanted to be president of the U.S and scored some brownie points too. Had all of this come out after he won, it would've destroyed the presidency, the dems and a whole lot of other things.

Choice words from a Senator who saw what the boys in the back room had and then finangled a sweetheart deal for her own state.

Hypocrisy is hypocrisy, be it sexual or otherwise.

This is just another way to distract us from our real problems. Our government, it seems, is doing a great job at keeping us fighting among ourselves and not paying attention to what they are doing right in front of our faces.

you got my vote Claire...it's OK to criticise Neanderthal behaviour even if it comes back to bite you. Real time criticism is beneficial...I wish more of your profession followed suit...
01:05 PM on 01/27/2010
Yeah, I'm sure Claire criticized Newt when he told his wife right after cancer surgery that he was leaving her, and I'm sure Claire criticized Ensign, and I'm sure she had some choice words for David Vitter. How about that blowup she had with Mark Foley and Larry Craig over their behavior? And whew, did she go after Mark Sanford, she tore him a new one!!

Oh wait, no? Nothing? Not a peep?

Too true! Fanned!

Personally, considering her passive-aggressive attempts to minimize health care reform, I think she is disgusting

She wasn't asked then. She was asked now.

Pers'nlly, I find it far more neanderthal to be anti health care, anti choice and anti woman than a simple woman-IZER. Puritanism is immoral and unhealthy at its very core.

actually I don't get why Edwards is getting so much attention. He is what he is. And only God knows whether he has a soul or not. I think we can list quite a few that are not morally ethical or loyal...many in the republithug party as a matter of fact. They are still working. I think J Edwards is a pig...but how is it my business And don't go the "he was a step away from the presidency" route...he wasn't even close.

Couldn't agree more; but watch, this is just another loser (Edwards) that will be heading for a FOX News network tv show!

Fox News hiring Democratic drop outs now? I thought they had a good selection of Republican drop outs and quitters.

I doubt that, being that Fox is a 3 ring circus and not a news organization.
