Brittany Murphy Death Suit Monjack Warner Brothers
Simon Monjack plans on suing Warner Brothers, alleging wrongful death in the case of his wife, Brittany Murphy.

Daily Beast:

The Daily Beast has learned that Simon Monjack, the much-maligned husband of Brittany Murphy, is only days away from filing a wrongful-death action against Warner Brothers, claiming that the studio is responsible for the unexpected death of the 32-year-old actress last December. "They killed her," he told me. Although the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office hasn't released a final cause of death, Monjack and Brittany's mother, Sharon, who also spoke to me, are convinced that the once-promising star died of a heart attack from the stress caused by Warner Brother's canceling of a contract just two weeks before she died. Murphy was excited to have begun production on the sequel to the animated hit Happy Feet, but when she was fired by Warner Brothers, Monjack says, "She was devastated."

Sorry, I look at him and I see creep. I read an article in People Magazine where he said stuff like Brittney loved to shop for $3,000 handbags, etc. what a crock. He is the one looking for the $'s. The truth will come out soon, and I just know he will be the one to blame for her death.

Ah Simon, who's your next meal-ticket? Sue Warner because they killed Murphy? Your case won't even make it to discovery.

Dismissed.

I can't sue Bush Inc. for wrongful death related to my son being killed in Iraq when his hummer ran over a buried IED. This guy has NO chance of pinning his wife's death on work related stress, especially if she had a diagnosed heart defect.

While he has my sympathy, there are some things in life you have little to no control over.

(Snarky or not) While I am sorry for his loss, it is utterly foolish to try to make Warner liable for her death. Imagine the circus of a court system if everyone who lost a gig blamed whatever catastrophe that followed - be it health, personal, financial, etc. - on his/her former employer? I mean come on... "I'm suing my former employer because my house burned down because I used a space heater because my gas got shut off because I was fired..." "Her family is suing because she was so distraught over being fired that she went out and got drunk then drove herself into a wall..."

Brittany's mother's choice to support Monjack is significant, in addition to this excerpt:

“In all the time I’ve known her, she has never, and I repeat NEVER, done drugs,” Monjack told me. “Not a line of cocaine, not a hit from a joint, nothing. She was anti-drugs. There are no drugs involved. If any were, I would not be on the phone with you.” She was afraid of even drinking too much caffeine, adds Sharon, ever since she was diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse, a common heart condition in which the valve doesn’t close completely. She was also hypoglycemic, not diabetic as widely reported.

The mitral valve prolapse and the hypoglycemia are especially significant. I'm not sure if there is anyone at all to blame for this tragically early death of a very popular and beautiful actress. Ideally, we'd all be living with less stress in our lives.

It sounds like the Mom is culpable. She didnt follow or relay the instructions of the 911 Operator to the husband.

....so how will they prove she died from a broken contract?
02:54 AM on 01/28/2010
There was an autopsy, but it couldn't possibly prove contract-related death.

I don't have a problem with the hot coffee law suit and guess what? If that coffee spilled in your mother's lap you;d sue too. I suggest you learn the details of the hot coffee law suit rather than listening to the crap dished out by the GOP. The suit was merited. If you bothered to read the article without forming an opinion before hand you would see that the husband's suit has nothing to do with a broken heart. This man sounds genuinely pissed. again, if you had a wife and she died in your arms from work-related stress and substandard working conditions I suspect you might consider litigation too. It's easy for insensitive boneheads to be critical of what others do but my experience with such people is that they are the first to whine if something happens to them.
03:31 AM on 01/28/2010
You would also want to sue if you lost your meal ticket.

You go ahead and tell the third world about our little starlets substandard working conditions.... Pah-lease!
