Yes, honey, I know I lost my job when the newspaper folded, the house is about to go into foreclosure and we're down to peanut butter and ramen noodles in the pantry, but...but...I've just GOT to have an I Pad!

Cheer up, because I've been reading in the advance hype that the new Apple tablet was going to save the newspaper business! Not sure how, but some people were sure it would. Somehow.

If you were directing that question to me, I graduated at the top of my class in high school. Owning a lot of electronic gadgets doesn't make you a genius. But far be it from me to get in the way of anybody's mindless consumerism. Some people have an inner need to buy every product on the market, necessary or not, and that's fine, but it's ultimately not good for our nation's landfills, just as eating everything in sight is not good for a person's body.

It won't change my life at all because I won't be buying one. I'm happy with what I've got and have more important things to spend my money on.
