Quinn Releases Heartfelt Final Ad Before Primary: "Me? I'm Counting On You."

Governor Pat Quinn released a new campaign ad Wednesday, which will be the last before Tuesday's primary. The ad comes as polling numbers show Quinn and Dan Hynes neck and neck in the race.

Since Hynes released a controversial ad showing former Chicago Mayor Harold Washington criticizing Quinn, the attacks in the race have been constant.

The ad released Wednesday, however, is quite mild-mannered--with Quinn sincerely addressing voters:

"You know me. For years I fought the big shots on behalf of everyday people," Quinn says. "...restoring integrity in government."

"On Tuesday my opponent is counting on false, negative ads to win," Quinn says. "Me? I'm counting on you."

The ad comes after a rather good day for Governor Quinn. On Tuesday, he joined Mayor Daley in announcing 1,200 new jobs to a group of Ford workers at a South Side plant. This week also brought Quinn endorsements from progressive organizationsDemocracy for America and Planned Parenthood.

As of Tuesday, a poll showed Hynes with a one-point lead over Quinn.
