An extreme tattoo can be totally badass. Unless you spell it "exreme." Then it's just hilarious. We've compiled some of the funniest tattoo misspellings we could find. Either these folks had no access to spell check or are simply oblivious to the mistake. Regardless, they cracked us up.

my mate's 21 year old son and the son's friend, whilst in a drunken stupour, got each other's name tattooed on their bums. and they're not gay but their respective girlfriends weren't amused.

As I said do some research. If you were to educate yourself, you might be able to contribute something meaningful to the discussion.

Having a misspelled tattoo should automatically disqualify you from voting. In fact, the same could be said for any tattoo....

Reminds me of the hilarious piece on full body scans at airports. See "FAW PAS .... " at

Not trying to rain on anyone's parade here, but I think some of these "misspellings" may have been intentional.

Poor Johnny Depp. He changed his tatoo, "Winona Forever" to "Wino Forever". You do what you have to do.

Funny how the once rebellious tattoo has become a mark of conformity.

OK, here's a great, concrete example of our education system REALLY failing us. As with adults who can't find a country like Spain on the map or have any idea how much change they should get back from a $5. Yet, we can laugh at these folks (and deservedly so). Tattoo removal is still painful (I hear) in 2010!

Enjoy the slideshow - it's hilarious!

Is it the educational system failing them, or is it them failing the educational system? Honestly, there are flaws, but alot of kids just don't care. I'd say some of these people probably fit into that...I'd guess more than a few of them are high school drop-outs.

Blame it all to the tattoo artist for not giving his so-called "expert" opinion.
thejanice   05:07 PM on 2/02/2010
Every tattoo artist I've ever come across tells you up front that the spelling of your tattoo is YOUR responsibility, especially if it is written in a foreign language. As a friend of mine once said, "If I were good at English, i wouldn't be making tattoos." (Not always true, but always funny.)

Gotta love it. Just remember, that hummingbird on your butt today will be a pterodactyl in 20 years.

Jews have a great law. If you've got a tattoo, you can't be buried in a Jewish cemetery. Why? Because you tried to assert your own will on God's creation. They're finicky about spelling, too. The mezuzah, that little prayer necklace worn by observant Jews, and other devotional gear, is meant to be opened every so often to be checked for typos, breakage, mold, etc. in the written prayers inside.

Anyway, I can't wait for the wave of people who insist on having their favorite tattoos carved in relief on their tombstone, or better yet, a full front and back body-map on the lid of a nice granite sarcophagus. That could drive a huge boom in the funeral industry, if it survives the Apocalypse now under way.

what "Apocalypse"?

How about that little altering of God's work for male children shortly (ha!, shortly) after birth?

Good point. As turns out, though, the result has been quite beneficial to health--lower cervical cancer and lower HIV. Now with tattoos you're safe enough if the instruments are sterile, but they don't contribute to public health as far as I Know.

Surely exceptions are to be made for the millions who had been forced to bear tattoos unwillingly in the camps.

Um, not really..Jews that have been forced to be tattooed can be buried in a Jewish cemetery, the law is a against getting one willingly not having one. In the same vein so to speak if a person has a tattoo and converts to Judaism they can be buried in a Jewish cemetery too. Also, mezuzah are not necklaces (although some folks do sell/buy/wear this silly item, and these folks are not observant) they are the scrolls that are placed on the door post of homes where Jews live (the actual thing you can see is the mezuzah cover). You can see why the necklace thing is silly, we are comanded to write on the door post of our house certian scripture, not wear them around our necks. You are right that these are checked every few years in case a letter chips off or mold etc. Hebrew letters can change the meaning of a word if only a small part of the letter is missing for this same reason Torah scrolls are also checked. How do I know? I'm a Jew and happy to take time out of my Jewy Jewy day, to explain this.
