Jeffrey Whitaker Auburn Bound: DT Prospect Chooses Tigers

Jeffrey Whitaker picked Auburn today, ending speculation that the defensive tackle standout could go to Georgia or Miami.

Whitaker, a Georgia native, said at a press conference today that in the end Auburn was "where I felt comfortable."

The Tigers get in Whitaker the 17th best defensive tackle prospect in the country, per ESPN Scouts.

The 6-3, 295-pound tackle is ranked even higher by some, and his size and strength make him a formidable addition to the Auburn defense.

Whitaker, described as a "big, likeable, good-natured sort" by Alabama Live, had a recruiting visit at Auburn earlier this month, but refused to make a commitment at the time.

Auburn has been recruiting well, and Whitaker isn't the only big commitment leading up to National Signing Day 2010.
