Colbert Shows Off His iPad At The Grammys, Mocks Jay-Z (VIDEO)

Stephen Colbert has an iPad!

While announcing the winner for 'song of the year' at last night's Grammy awards, Colbert stunned the crowd of celebs by pulling out the new Apple iPad.

'And the nominees are,' Colbert began, then fumbled around in his pockets for an envelope and asked, 'I'm sorry, where's the list?'

He turned around. 'Oh I remember,' he told the crowd. 'It's on my iPad.'

'Jay-Z did you not get one of these in your gift bag?' he teased the star. 'Am I cooler than you?

Check out Colbert's iPad cameo in the video below. Jay-Z cracks up, Nicole Kidman cracks a smile, and Colbert's daughter assures him an iPad still doesn't make him look cool.

Beyond this, he had the guts to say it like it is: The Grammy's are nothing more than people in the industry congratulating themselves and stroking each other. Most of these "musicians" are no-talent hacks who wake up each and every day thanking their personal god for Auto Tune.

It was his idea to do it and actually asked Apple for one to take on stage, which Apple handed to him 3 minutes before he went onstage.

Some Americans like me know that Apple products are designed in California, and built in China. Just like every other electronics manufacturer.

And I will still buy a lot of Apple products because I like them.

Of course not every electronics manufacturer puts the words "Designed in California, Made in China" on EVERY SINGLE PRODUCT THEY SELL (either on the device or in the packaging)

Ok to like them. They're pretty cool gadgets as far as simple, easily mobile information systems are concerned. However, the fact they're made elsewhere contributes to high unemployment. Of course, iIt's all about profit margins, not patriotism when it comes to big business, at least the way it operates in today's international markets.

However, we -- the consumers, taxpayers, voters -- complain about big corporations and the global economy's erosion of the US job market and, thus, the quality of life for Americans. Yet, as soon as these gadgets hit the market, a great many burn rubber to buy them. Can't have it both ways.
