$35 Million Given To Haiti Through Mobile Fundraising

First Posted: 4/4/10 Updated: 5/25/11

The Mobile Giving Foundation, which processes donations sent via text message, says that over $35 million has been raised for recovery in the three weeks since an earthquake caused catastrophic damage to Haiti on January 12.

The most popular of these numbers, texting HAITI to 90999, raised $10 million for the Red Cross in just the first week after the earthquake.

Viewers of the Hope For Haiti telethon that aired on January 22 were encouraged to text as well, and nearly every major organization attempting to bring relief to Haiti has a mobile giving number. HuffPost Impact has compiled a full list of "Text-To-Give" numbers.
