Palin Calls For Rahm Emanuel To Be Fired

Palin Fire Rahm Emanuel
Sarah Palin called for Rahm Emanuel to be fired.

Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin is calling on President Barack Obama to fire White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel over Emanuel's penchant for using profanity and a statement he made that was derogatory of the handicapped. Really.

The 2008 vice presidential candidate put up a Facebook post on Monday evening arguing that Emanuel's offending slur (in which he said that liberal groups thinking of running health care-related ads against Democratic lawmakers were "F---ing retarded") was no less the equivalent of using the "N-word."

I would ask the president to show decency in this process by eliminating one member of that inner circle, Mr. Rahm Emanuel, and not allow Rahm's continued indecent tactics to cloud efforts. Yes, Rahm is known for his caustic, crude references about those with whom he disagrees, but his recent tirade against participants in a strategy session was such a strong slap in many American faces that our president is doing himself a disservice by seeming to condone Rahm's recent sick and offensive tactic.

The Obama Administration's Chief of Staff scolded participants, calling them, "F---ing retarded," according to several participants, as reported in the Wall Street Journal.

Just as we'd be appalled if any public figure of Rahm's stature ever used the "N-word" or other such inappropriate language, Rahm's slur on all God's children with cognitive and developmental disabilities - and the people who love them - is unacceptable, and it's heartbreaking.

The Emanuel remark was reported recently by The Wall Street Journal but dates back to the heat of the health care wars in August. And it certainly wasn't the first time the chief of staff (known for an acid tongue) has leveled an odious broadside at one group or another from his perch in the West Wing.

Palin presumably seized on this one because of her own experience with the issue -- her youngest child, of course, suffers from Down syndrome. But it's hard to ignore the fact that making hay out of "controversies" like these is her political trademark, regardless of whether there is a personal tie to the matter.

RAUM MEANT TO SAY

"Backward" liberals and he was correct. This story was manufactured by backward liberals who are trying to play win-lose politics with Republicans and are holding up progress in Congress.

But the point about "retarded" no longer being used to refer to persons is correct. Persons with mental disabilities are now called, e.g, "Special Students" and Special Education is a big area of public school education. The word "retarded" is now used to refer to such things as retarding or advancing the timing on your old jalopy with a distributor, which needs to be turned so it runs right.

But backward liberals, such as much of the media, are in need of some mental advancing or tuning so they start writing of the need of Congress to become more bi-partisan, non-partisan, cooperative and forward looking.

No, I mean reactionary liberals. Progressive liberals are more sensible.

She's not upset about THAT use of the word, she's upset about the OTHER use of the word.

Obama has proven he can block any GOP initiative simply by approving of it.

Wake up, if I used the language that he used, I would have lost my job. Parents would have been able to sue me personally for a poor choice of words. It is inappropriate for him to speak that way in public as he is a public figure and he should know that civil servants are here to represent and protect, not to use archaic slurs.
11:51 PM on 02/03/2010
wasn't in public. Besides, have you heard the nixon tapes?
12:07 AM on 02/04/2010
In Nixon's time you could use words that we are no longer okay to use, just admit the guy made a mistake and accept it!
08:29 AM on 02/04/2010
If a Republican used the N-word in private and it was reported, would you accept the excuse that it "wasn't public?
07:13 AM on 02/04/2010
Talk about a personal conflict! Here's a teacher who is a Republican, defending Nixon, and unfamiliar with the dictionary's definition of a word.... "retarded" means limited cpacity - it is not slang, just shows that Rohm is VERY rough on the edges.....

If you are truly a teacher, learn to think!
08:36 AM on 02/04/2010
I don't care if it is a real word. It is a slur on the disabled. The N-word is a real word too.

PALIN CHEATIN'?
Are you telling me that the Palins have four houses and only paying taxes on two of them while American people are losing their houses?

The Palins needs to apologize to the American people... they need to invite us over to their new house and and and beg for forgiveness like Rahm had to!

Palin has the right to cheat bc she don't believe in taxes... ;-)
01:52 AM on 02/13/2010
Charlie Rangels tax cheating is far more offensive. A Congressman heading up the committee that writes tax code should not be a tax cheat. OR is it OK for Rangel to cheat because he's a Democrat?
07:31 PM on 02/03/2010
For all of you who are bashing Palin for her statement...I really want you to think hard about this and be totally honest...

If Bush or Cheney had said exactly the same thing that Emanuel did, used the word in the same context with the same derogatory intent, would you be defending the use of the word or belittling the the public figure that spoke out against it as you are here with Palin?

Be honest.

The fact is what Emanuel said was ignorant and wrong. Should he be fired? No, of course not. But this is definitely a 'teachable moment' for him.
07:44 PM on 02/03/2010
You mean calling neocons f&*ing retards? I would have agreed and Palin would not have been "offended".
07:46 PM on 02/03/2010
A perfect example of what I was talking about.

*sigh*
10:46 PM on 02/03/2010
I don't care 'who' said it, big deal, quit dictating what words can or cannot be used.

this PC garbage is just that... GARBAGE, the statement 'PC' in itself means nothing.
11:54 PM on 02/03/2010
Agreed, it only retards the vibrancy of the language.

I didn't see anything wrong with what Rahm Emanuel said. This PC way of talking is k.illing society and the American culture, but this precisely what the left would do if the situation was reverse.
07:07 PM on 02/03/2010
now she is the politically correct cop...
yea sarah, you deliberately produced one, and expect tax payers to pay for him, you better go look up the word, and quit telling people what they can and cannot say, you make me sick.

Haven't you been paying attention? Palin is politically correct, she uses the language all the time. I don't know why she is considered to be a great conservative leader. I think her supporters don't hear anything she says.
06:31 PM on 02/03/2010
It's hilarious when people who oppse the civil rights act are suddenly so concerned about insulting minorities. Equating what Emanuel said to using the n-word is like comparing what he said to loving Nazis. It's a non-secquitor that makes no logical sense.

Will Sarah Palin ask Limbaugh to apologize for calling Liberals “Retards”?

In a weird and irrational rant, Rush Limbaugh started to call us, liberals, “Looney Tunes” characters, “kooks”...etc. He said that he doesn’t understand the controversy since liberals who complained about health care reform “are retards”.

Limbaugh made it clear that he won’t going to apologize. So now I’m wondering if Lady Sarah will head to her computer’s keyboard and type one of her famous Facebook’s posts to denounce Limbaugh’s comments and ask him to resign. But we all know that Sarah Palin will never call out Limbaugh.
