Alexi Giannoulias, Mark Kirk Already Campaigning In Illinois Senate Race (VIDEO)

The votes were still coming in from Tuesday's primary election, but Mark Kirk and Alexi Giannoulias were already looking to November on Wednesday.

As both men held fairly safe leads throughout their respective primaries, they've been taking shots at one another from the get-go. But they attacked each other in no uncertain terms once they had secured the nominations.

Giannoulias, in claiming victory Tuesday night, told his supporters he had a message for Mark Kirk: "Your days as a Washington insider are over."

And from Mark Kirk's camp, the National Republican Senatorial Campaign unleashed a new ad Wednesday morning hitting Giannoulias for his suspect banking connections, including allegedly loaning to "the mob." The ad concludes with the tag line: "Alexi Giannoulias: He'd make Tony Soprano proud."

These themes--Kirk the insider, Alexi the crooked banker--are sure to be played out ad nauseam in the excruciatingly long nine-month wait between Illinois's unusually early primary and the general election in November.
