TO ALL WOULD-BE MJ TOURISTS TO THE NETHERLANDS:

Note that it is customary there to mix tobacco with their MJ. You have been warned!

As many times as I've been to Amsterdam I've never gone to a hash bar. Sad omission.

FTA - Amsterdam continues to attract waves of youthful tourists eager to smoke a reefer or two without having to look over their shoulder

Going in once I met two college age Americans on the plane. Conversation was
Where you going? Amsterdam
How long you going to be there? 3 days! 3 days in Amsterdam!
Got friends there? It's Amsterdam, man
What you going to do, see? It's Amsterdam, man
Where you going to stay? It's Amsterdam, man

I suspect they had a good time

“Last summer we saw the first wave of Chinese middle class, that’s a very promising market.”

So when the Chinese begin to have disposible income they exhibit the same patterns as every other civilization that has ever found themselves in similar circumstances. Expanding middle class? Social conciousness is only a matter of time. Time to open a "beat" club in Bejing. What's "bongo" in Chinese?

"According to the survey, 11.4 percent of Dutch people aged 15 to 24 had consumed cannabis over the previous year, down from 14.3 percent eight years earlier. The Netherlands was ranked 13th out of 23 nations — way behind countries such as Spain, Italy and the Czech Republic, which register more than double the Dutch rate."

Now that's a lagging indicator. So what's the problem? Novelty worn off? Got sick of watching your parents laugh at the TV test pattern? What? I guess legalizing it doesn't lead to licentious behavior after all. Movin' on.

I wonder just how much of this has to do with the EU, which is the standard bearer for the NWO?
The last thing the NWO wants is for people to do stuff that might make them think outside of the box, question gov't and see through the BS that is being ladeled out to the masses.
All in all...P-f-f-f-f-t-t...Bummer, man.

I agree, but thinking outside the herd has always been dangerous, and always will be.

Of course they are against pot tourism. The whole world knows the Netherlands because of its legalized marijuana, not the cities, architecture, or nature.

Or maybe they don't know about it because after tourists blow their brains out with that stuff, they can't remember the rest of the trip. Who knows.

I had a friend who used to get this pot...

from the commentary there:

"This story is already OBSOLETE. This story appears weeks after the issue has been decided. These propositions were all struck down. For now at least. Even the Mayor of Amsterdam is against this... But, yes, Dutch people in general do not have a huge interest in Cannabis Use. It is a relatively moderate and sane society, that Americans would do well to emulate."

I love how the article starts out with a 'drug of choice' then the guy orders hot chocolate.

While living in Germany for 6 years my children were taught that drinking was no big thing. They were able to go to the disco's and dance with alcohol around all the time. Their biggest complaint when we returned to the states was how boring it was on weekends because all their friends wanted to do was get drunk. Imagine teaching them something is no big deal and they don't care for it because it's not taboo.

Yeah, making it illegal merely creates this mentality of indulging to excess, which is counterproductive, really.

What you cite is absolutely true, and we _used_ to have the type of scenario you report occur in pockets of the USA, too.

The real point is that the !d!ots in control of our country haven't any concept of human nature and they exacerbate the very problems they would like to reduce through their _profound_ ignorance.

Smoking pot has become uncool in the Netherlands because smoking in general has become uncool. The fact that Dutch kids don't care much for pot doesn't mean they are not into drugs anymore. Taking pills, snorting cocaine and boozing up at a very young age is now much more common than it was eight years ago.
06:05 PM on 02/03/2010
Indeed, doing cocaine and speed are the things dutch youth are doing nowadays, especially before foorball matches or a party.
08:44 AM on 02/04/2010
That's because herbs mellow you out. How many fights have you witnessed in the presents of people smoking herbs?
