Consider him the United Kingdom's own Crocodile Dundee.

British man Chris Weller spent more than $30,000 converting his apartment into a home for his pet iguana, monitor lizard, and cayman.

The reptiles abode in a luxury penthouse with a television and a pool. Weller, however, has moved into the loft.

I raised an Iguana from a hatchling. It turned out to be 13 of the best years spent with an animal. I did not have any clue about the possibilities of relating to a reptile. I let her roam free range and she was litter box trained. I kind of understand the Monitor with the TV. My Ig had a fascination with Star Trek Next Generation. Whenever I would watch her attention would not stray from the screen. With other shows she was a lot less attentive. It was a great experience with nature.

A friend of mine kept a couple of Tegus (nice docile lizards, 2' - 5' long) until one took off his left index finger.

Not all monitor lizards are aggressive or dangerous. As long as they are well cared even the more aggressive ones could be "tamed". If this guy is willing to perch the lizard in front of a TV and convert his home do care for them, put the lizard on a diet, he is a conscientious care-taker. I dont see any issues with an individual choosing to keep reptiles. I think some would be great pets. ... Now if you want to take on unethical practices in the reptile trade by folks who could care less for the animals or the environmental impact of released "pets"... that would be something to fuss about.

How many times are people going to make this mistake? This reminds me of two stories of people thinking they can domesticate wild animals only to have those animals turn on them! A guy in New York had these two animals, a Tiger and a Croc, in his apartment! After the Tiger tries to kill and eat him he runs to Philly and leaves the animals to fend for themselves! After a fews days and probably starving people hear these sounds coming from the apartment and call the police! Of course not knowing what's in the apt the police breakdown the door and of course the tiger tries to attacks them! LOL! Police have to run for their very lives! Authorities finally track down the renter and arrest him! He is now in jail! Another in Canada just a few months ago is killed by his own "pet" Tiger after years of fending off his neighbors who where trying to get him to get rid of the animal!

1. These animals belong in the wild.
2. This man will be the croc's dinner some day.
3. It's his money, but I can think of better ways to help animals in general than that.
4. He's nuts.

That's right! Guess it takes too much of a mental effort for the sitemonitors to know the difference.

I wonder how long we will have to wait for the story of how one of these animals attacked and killed this guy?

Those animals look extremely well cared for! That is an awesome set-up he has! If you can afford it and let the animals live a happy and healthy life, why not? Not everyone is a dog or cat kinda person! Hector is too cute... lounge lizard.

Unless he's filled the entire house with water, the headline should read terrarium, not aquarium.

A castle with a moat brimming with crocodiles would have been the way to go...agreed.
