StyleSpot.com, a website that tracks which red carpet looks are snatched up in stores, says that Bullock's ensembles are the most frequently purchased. Her Vivienne Westwood dress at the People's Choice Awards was a best-seller. StyleSpot.com's Editorial director Lily Hollander explained, "For the most part, celebrities that drive sales aren't necessarily the ones that get nominated," indicating that Bullock's "down-to-earth image" appeals to shoppers.

Other Oscar-nominated actresses likely to inspire fashion sales will be Gabourey Sidibe and Meryl Streep. Kate Hudson and Drew Barrymore are known to move red carpet dresses all year round.
