Meet the Samsonadzes, Georgia's favorite cartoon family.

True, they might maybe look a little familiar - the yellow skin, for one thing, appears to be a direct nod to a certain American cartoon family. But according to their Georgian creators, this family is uniquely Georgian.

'I want to say to Simpsons fans, please do not think that our show is an imitation or a rip off of The Simpsons. Yes of course it was an inspiration for us, but the Samsonadzes is not a copy,' says Shalva Ramishvili, creator and director of the cartoon.

The family has already gained international attention for their less then flattering portrait of Vladimir Putin. However, some Georgians have been surprised to find out the show has yet to ridicule Georgia's troubled leader, Mikheil Saakashvili.

i can't see the videos on this network, but really, how can someone say it's not a copy of the Simpsons when they named it the Simsonnadzes? they couldn't use a different sounding name??? please.

hey watever. if it helps bring Georgia into the 21st c. then so be it. Georgians need laughs too.

I'm sure it's meant as an homage. Georgians are already familiar with the Simpsons so the similarities aren't lost on them.
