Paterson To Resign? Governor David Paterson Will Step Down After Scandal Says Business Insider

UPDATE: Business Insider now reports that a Paterson official denies that the governor will resign. The same source also says that while a "New York Times story is in the works," it will not run Monday.

*******

Just days after rumors of a Paterson scandal hit a fever pitch, new reports claim the New York Times will publish their bombshell story on Monday.

Writes Business Insider

We've now heard from a single source familiar with the goings on at the Governor's office that the story will likely drop on Monday, and that the governor's resignation will follow.

Yet just what the scandal is has yet to be defined.

Most media reports point to recent stories involving the governor and other women as signs of some sort of sex scandal.

In the past few weeks Paterson has allegedly been spotted "nuzzling" and "neck-kissing" with a woman not his wife, as well as allegedly getting caught in a compromising situation by a state trooper. The latter accusation is reportedly the reason behind Paterson's decision to ban state troopers from the Governor's Mansion.

Mirroring Paterson's own ascent to governorship following Eliot Spitzer's escort scandal, if the governor were to resign it is expected that Lieutenant Governor Richard Ravitch would fill his shoes.

More details as they emerge...

Enough already! Paterson never deserved to newspapers headlines. He's so incompetent his lucky stars are keeping him from doing more damage to the state. Retire already and collect your
undeserved pension. Dissapear please.

Why should we care about the sex lives of our public officials? As long as they are making good policy and governing fairly. I could care less what they are doing if it doesn't affect the way they govern.

The present scandal isn't (his own) sex scandal. It's witness tampering, which is illegal. The sex scandal is only rumored.

I for one doesn't care about his sex life, I just can't wait to vote him out of office.

He should have left when he appointed the poster girl from the NRA as NY senator.

What do Paterson and Gillibrand have in common?

Unlike Obama, they really are fierce advocates of the GLBT community.

What do their opponents have in common?

Hmm........

I feel for the good of New York State the Govenor should resign. We are taxed to death and people have had enough. He has made a mess of our budget and staying in this state that has been my home since birth has become very costly. If a scandal is what it takes to get him out of office so be it.

All of this name calling without an actual scandal. Only rumors of one.

Anyone paying attention would know it's about the slot machines at Aqueduct, but who needs details?

Our governor is trying to force effective ethics regulation through the legislature, he's trying to balance the budget with spending cuts and tax increases (Is there really any other way?) He's trying to enact gay marriage (We already recognize marriages performed elsewhere) and he's trying to regulate the banks to protect consumers.

Is it any wonder the "special interests" are looking for any smear they can fund?

He needs to go. He has become a distraction and polls shows he will not win re-election. Its time for him to step aside.

I guarantee that if he were a Republican involved in a scandal, the party affilliation would be listed in the story.

Where is the morality? Why can't we have leaders with moral values? Is this asking too much? Have we become so desensitized to sex and politicians that we give this a pass? Where is our society heading?

"and we are not saved..."

Yours is s sham morality.

New York citizens deserve better then our current so called leadership in these days of economic chaos. We need leaders that put the people first and their self centered interests on the back burner while in office to serve the people. It now appears that New York may be getting a new unelected elitist for Govenor with no ties to the elctorate.
