Tim Tebow SUPER BOWL AD VIDEO: See Tebow TACKLE Mother Pam

First Posted: 04/09/10 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 04:20 PM ET

Tim Tebow's Super Bowl ad has been rumored for weeks. The commercial, long suspected to contain a pro-life message, was protested by many women's groups, which pressured CBS not to air the ad. Planned Parenthood even released a preemptive video in response to the commercial.

(UPDATE: Scroll down for NEW ad!)

After much anticipation, the ads have now been released -- and the Heisman winner tackles his mother! They do not contain any overtly pro-life message and are tamer than many may have expected. The ads mostly consist of Pam Tebow, Tim's mother, talking about her son. The former Florida quarterback only speaks at the end of the commercials. Below is the transcript of the pre-game ad.

PAM TEBOW: I call him my miracle baby. He almost didn't make it into this world. I remember so many times when I almost lost him. It was so hard. Well he's all grown up now, and I still worry about his health. Everybody treats him like he's different, but to me, he's just my baby. He's my Timmy, and I love him.

TIM TEBOW: Thanks mom. Love you too.

The ad closes with a message encouraging viewers to visit FocusOnTheFamily.com.

Scroll down to watch.

Oh, please. Mother/child love is never too close. We should celebrate it, honor it. I'm pro choice (big time) and I liked this ad.

Is it just me or do they seem a little TOO close.

I mean, there's 12-year-old close and there's 25-year-old close.

Kinna creepy in my opinion.

Too bad all that money spent for this ad by FOF wasn't sent to Haiti to help people who are starving, rather than pontificating and using the SuperBowl as a vehicle to do so. Tebow, if you make it to the NFL and become successful, we'll watch you play. Otherwise, we really don't care about your cause - and yes, we believe that women have a right to choose. We also believe that women need to follow the advice of their doctors. Your mom was just very lucky. Perhaps if your football career fades away, you can be a minister at some fundamentalist church and give your views at will.

I'm always annoyed by that sort of specious argument: "Too bad money was spent on something I don't believe in, instead of on some worthy cause I do support." Yeah, too bad you spent money today on a soy latte or a Big Mac or a Snickers bar instead of sending that money to Haiti. Too bad you spend money on Internet access and cable TV instead of sending it to the poor suffering Haitians. Where do you draw that line? And who's to say FOF hasn't already sent millions to Haitian relief efforts?

I think everyone can assume that Haiti has families too.

I am glad that Mrs. Tebow was able to do what she believed to be right and that everything worked out well for her family. It is best when individuals can make these decisions without government interference.

Amen.

The poll would have made more sense if everyone was allowed to express their beliefs in a super bowl ad, but since they banned many ads that expressed beliefs that CBS didn't believe in,there is no good answer for the poll.

Irony # 1: Abortion is outlawed in the Philippines, so how on earth could the docs allegedly advise her to have one (without it being illegal)?

It's nice that this ad promotes that The Lawd Gawd Bebbe Jaysus's Very Own Quarterback's Mummy made a "choice," but really, she didn't: There were no other options.

Irony #2: Since abortion is permitted here in the US, she would have actually had to make a choice. I wonder if, given her son's likely demise in the draft (and diminishing $$$$ grab), she would have chosen the AntiChoice stance now?

We'll never know...

Excellent points. And of course if Focus on the Family had its way, no one would have a choice.

Except for thier choice to have sex in the first place, of course. And most people are very aware that the very act does result in a baby.
10:10 AM on 02/10/2010
With regard to the "choice" question, could she have gone somewhere outside the Philippines for the abortion? Do people from other countries come here for medical care?

With regard to his dollars grab, we should all be so lucky to fall into the pile of cash he will after a "demise" in our careers. By the way, he'll be playing football to earn that pile of cash.

Libs are such hypocrits!! They're screaming about the "tackle", but the Snickers ad was the same thing! And, what do you hear aobut that one??? crickets.....and nothing else! If, and that's a big 'if', they were in any way consistent, they'd be screaming about both, but nope! It's just about the Tebow ad. Libs: showing their ignorance and bias everytime they open their mouth! LOL hahahahahahaha

The hate in this ad was just too over-the-top for me. All those kind words between mother and son have no place in the public discourse. Moreover, I was appalled by their embrace. While many have accurately identified the woman abuse in this commercial, none point out the clear incestuous undertone. How can CBS validate incest and yet not air the gay commercial? What a double standard.

Finally, why were they both dressed completely in black in the ad? This ad should have been followed by an ad that showed people dressed in multi-colors to make it clear that although some choose to dress in all black, not everyone has to.

How do people call this ad "political"? It's an ad that draws you to a web site. No different that the Go Daddy ads from that perspective.

Also, if you really think he tackled his mother for real, you should probably go get your head examined. IT was obviously a joke and if you don't see that, you should probably get a replacement for your sense of humor. That, or you just try to find any reason to attack. Then you need more help still.

This isn't the ad that people were outraged over. They changed it. This ad was all fine and cute.

Didn't you see the original one? I did...I think on Rachel Maddow. That one was the anti abortion ad. They didn't run that ad. They had a pro choice ad set to run, but didn't run it. They didn't have to.

Can we please at least agree on terminology? I’m ok with ProChoice and ProLife. But I see people trying to slander one side ProChoice and AntiChoice. If that’s the case why can’t it be Pro Babymurder and Anti Babymurder? Come on, just be honest in your words.

Btw, I’m an atheist that deplores abortion but doesn’t think the gov has the right to outlaw it.

If you want to be a stickler with semantics this is the correct terminology: pro-fetus (although I use anti-choice). Pro-choice is correct for the other side - yes, it's pro-choice. I guarantee you there's not one single solitary pro-choice advocate who is "pro-abortion" or your other vile description. Choice means choice - doing what's right for the woman at that time - her health, her family, her situation, period. Without people like FotF or you getting in the way.

BTW, why can't one anti-choice/pro-fetus person answer this simple question: if pro-choicers are really "pro-abortion" how is it that so many of us pro-choicers have children?

Think about the meaning of the terms for a minute and you'll see why some are straightforward labels while others are loaded terms mean to appeal to emotions while conveying disingenuous messages about the true motivations of the person being labeled.
ProLife: sounds inoccuous, but it is highly disingenuous -- it hides the real agenda of making the choice to abort illegal.
ProChoice: this is straightforward. The person wants everyone to maintain freedom of choice, nothing more nothing less. They are not anti-life, any more than someone who uses condoms or abstinance is anti-life.
AntiChoice: again, straightforward. The use of this phrase is appropriate since "ProLifers" are not just proLife, they are also AntiChoice - it is undeniably their hallmark and "antiChoice" is calling it what it is.
Pro or Anti-babymurder: obviously and doubtlessly loaded language meant to appeal to emotions while conveying a disingenuous message. I and many others disagree that terminating a pregnancy, especially an early one, is murder. The ethical line between abortion and murder is difficult but it is a difference and it can be judged via ethics not emotional appeal.
07:34 PM on 02/10/2010
Pro-choice is just as innocuous a term. What was the choice? Sex, contraception, abstinence or abortion. Are these all equivalent choices? Of course they're not, thought they're all branches from the same root.

The real question is, when is the fetus considered a human being. It's disingenuous of the pro-choice crowd to say that it's not until birth.

Rape and incest as well as health of the mother, are three possibilities where there was no choice, so abortion is an understandable option.

It is obvious that the advertisement was changed in order to get on the air. People who are complaining about others complaining about what it's original content was suppose to be are just ill informed.

Still biased to air anything religious unless you allow all religious and anti-religious spots to air as well I know that FOF is biased and against gay babies, children and adults from leading a good and prosperous life as they were developed into being. Sorry, mom and dad. God sometimes has a sense of humor. Or maybe it really is just common sense since now those he supposedly made infertile just adopt or are artificially inseminated. I guess that plan didn't work? Maybe making some people gay is it's back up plan to control population? Who knows? I just believe that no earthy leader deserves the right to dictate the actions of each of the individuals who say they can speak directly to their Gods?

Don't let them tell you that they are in control of your lives. Jesus said it is personal. Just between you and him. If you try that route, you will be happier. Don't let other leader tell you how to worship your God.
