GOP Mocks Democrats With Valentine's Day Cards (PICTURES)

Huffington Post     First Posted: 04/12/10 06:12 AM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 04:30 PM ET

Just in time for Valentine's Day, the Republican National Committee has introduced a line of GOP Valentine's Day e-cards.

Over 30,000 of the e-cards, which mock Obama, Pelosi, and Harry Reid, among others, have been sent to date.

Check out a few below. If you want, you can send one out yourself at GOPValentine.com.

An homage to the now-infamous White House party crashing incident -- staring Tareq and Michaele Salahi, and in this case, Vice President Joe Biden.

With a hand from Political Media, the GOP has been experimenting with a whole host of new ways of using the web.

Some have been a success (Republicans have a far more active presence on Twitter than Democrats), others got off to a rocky start (like the relaunch of the RNC website), and a few have taken some knocks (like the GOP.am URL-shortener, which got pranked by mischief-makers who used it to put the GOP logo up on bondage sites.) This latest initiative combines Republicans, romance, and e-cards.

Sec. Napoliatano card was worth clicking to. "The system worked". Good stuff.

All the loons, shadddddup. If Colbert had done it, you'd have saluted.

too all my liberal "friends"

Even Robert Gibbs stated that you have to have a sense of humor, especially in Washington. So as far as I can tell you guys lack what the administration is asking. You are upset that your party didn't think of this. And as for the cost, NADA, ZIP, DIDN'T COST A DIME. It's all electronic bits floating around the Internet. And it was probably thought up by a lone republican techie. Not the whole Republican party. So using a blanket statement that the whole Republican party was involved is inaccurate and poorly stated.

Smile. Lighten Up.
3 more years you guys can then moan and complain as the GOP takes back all three houses...

the GOP first offense was they weren't funny...the second was they seem childish lastly they seem to run out of ideas even to put on a valentines day card...that shows how far their ideas go...i surprise the mention tax cuts

So this is what the Republicans spend their time and money on instead of making this a better country!

I like a funny joke (emphasis on "funny") as much as the next person, but surely the RNC has more important things to be spending their time on than lame Valentine's cards, right?

Besides, haven't we already learned from "The 1/2 Hour News Hour" that Republicans shouldn't try to do comedy?

I have an idea: maybe Republicans could practice some of that elusive bipartisanship by making joke cards about BOTH parties, and then selling those cards to raise money for something worthwhile: charity, social programs, psychotherapy for teabaggers... something useful, you know? Maybe it'll show they have some heart instead of just being a bunch of rich white guys b*tching about their taxes.

The Rahm Emmanuel one WAS funny, the rest were just lame, "Everyone's Invited" was almost funny. Someone has done some Republican cards, not as many but they're funny, the last one was OUCH but really funny!

What was mean spirited about any of that? How was the one with Rahm not hilarious? The one with Napolitano is a little sketchy due to the related subject but its almost something that could have been in a Dilbert comic. Going by your post and the headline - it's never funny to make fun of the left, ever, because its just mean and ignorant. Unless you're making fun of Marion Barry.

Come on liberal/progressive graphic artists, you have so much material to make alternative Valentines!
These were a grade school project.

I'm not a terribly skilled artist, but I threw together http://www.demvalentine.com/ in response last night. (I hope this isn't considered spam -- it's not like it makes me money.) The GOPValentine site was just so tacky I couldn't help it.

They think they are clever. I think they are evil. I am beginning to look upon the GOP as the Evil Empire that we have to eradicate to save the world.

The Republican are angry over current policies in Washington, but they don't have time to focus on a better resolution because they are playing grade school games. How much taxpayer money was wasted on this? Or is wasting money only an issue when you aren't currently in power?

you sound like a tea partier of the crazy variety.

It never ceases to amaze me that the Republicans continue to act like the rich, vacuous, immature high school kids we all had to go to school with. They seem to be incapable of caring about anything but their party.
02:49 PM on 02/11/2010
Read some of the posts on here and tell me about caring. Lots of hate from the left on this site.

As bad as the cards are, it's still better than their health care plan. Lord knows they spent more time on the cards.

The Rahm Emmanuel one is funny. The rest just really aren't funny. I'm not sure it even rises to the level of mocking they're so bland and meaningless. They aren't even really mean, its really just mediocre. Sort of like their selections for president. Just Blehhhh.
09:56 AM on 02/11/2010
Exactly my thoughts! The Rahm card was funny... the rest were just blah.
