I wouldn't insinuate that people who do not date outside their race are racists. Nor should anyone assume that people who do date inter-raci­ally are prejudice free. That said, I find Mayer's comment on the subject hilarious. I'm sure black women everywhere are just throwing themselves off bridges on that 'news'. After Mayer's rant about Jessica Simpson and other women he bedded, I don't think women of ANY color will be sleeping with him anytime soon, except the extremely desperate. He'd better get used to 'handling' things himself.

Well that comment that he made was pretty crude. Its not only what he said about not wanting to date black women that was offensive, the entire interview was scummy. I agree with you though on the topic of his rant regarding Jessica Simpson and others. Women who are actually worth anything will not find him in any way shape or form attractive after this interview. I am lucky because i never did in the first place so it wasn't much of a disappoint­ment. The guy is just a d-bag and thats it.

If you don't like him , you don't have to read his inter views or anything else from him/about him . The point is , he's a great singer. And not just album great either , he sounds AMAZING live . It's obvious he has talent, and doesn't need a computer to re-do his voice . If you had a voice like that, you could say whatever you wanted also .

From reading this and some other quotes from this person, I expected to dislike him.

I confess to near-compl­ete ignorance of who he is, but I just read the interview and thought it was funny and honest. He is a person who has thought about sexuality, love, the nature of celebrity, and isn't afraid to voice some of his feelings about it, and he's self-aware enough to know that inevitably­, he's a little messed up.

When celebrity can be so much about creating an image, saying the right things, even having "people" (agents, PR staff) to create an image for you, he seems like a person who hasn't bought into his own PR, isn't following a script, and is comfortabl­e in saying a lot of things other people wouldn't be comfortabl­e in saying, or admitting to.
