Unlike many aging singers, Smokey hasn't lost his voice, has he? Sings beautifully still. So nice to hear.

There was an awesome PBS program with Gwen Ifill interviewing Smokey and several people performed during the evening. He grew up in a neighborhood with Aretha, Diana, the Four Tops AND the Temptations....all that talent on one street, one neighborhood....the Motown pioneers...awesome!!!

Lift Every Voice and Sing should be sung by every voice, not just black voices. It's such a beautiful song.

I second that.

That should be our anthem when the Dems march on Washington.

Beautiful words and sentiment coming from a so called "socialist." Regressives should be ashamed for the abuse they have aimed at this man. But, sociopaths have no shame.

Because of the type or work I do I have lost of downtime in between actual work during the day and night. Sometimes nothing better to do but this. I m' here to be an antagonist, because I enjoy the debate, and I like being a bastard. but i fell that my comments are bound to offend you if they haven't already done so. When I fan you back I didn't knew anybody was going to be able to read my comments regularly, and knowing what I know about you and you know about me i honestly felt embarrassed.

With each passing day and night I feel the racist element in our country dissipate. Obama is the person who happens to be in the process of driving the nail in the coffin of racism forever.

Oh, yes, many are suffering right here in America, no matter what color the skin. But I can see Obama's effect of positivity in the eyes of darker skinned people in the streets holding their heads up higher. In the eyes of younger people especially is the feeling of real change.

I can feel it in my own relationships with darker skinned friends. Call me what you will but the big change is here, and here to stay. I can feel it in my heart and I won't be distanced from my heart no matter what cynicism comes my way.

"And you don't know exactly what it is,
Do you, Mr. Jones?" Bob Dylan

I agree and I'm sure that Mr. Dylan, a White man, feels more at home at this event than he would feel at any Tea bag rally.
