California Constitution

SAN FRANCISCO — A group pushing for a constitutional convention to reform California government says it's suspending its campaign.

Repair California said Friday it doesn't have enough money to continue its campaign but will reassess in March.

Calling state government dysfunctional, the group has been trying to gather enough signatures to put a proposal on the November ballot calling for the convention.

It says the convention is needed to reduce the influence of special interest groups and end gridlock in Sacramento.

Critics of the group say the proposal could open the constitution to a wide array of changes that have nothing to do with governance issues.
