Clinton Meets With Al Jazeera Brass In Qatar

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton met with the director general of the Al Jazeera Network, Wadah Khanfar, and the network's senior editorial staff while in Doha, Qatar on Monday, a spokeswoman for the Arabic station said.

The purpose of the meeting, the spokeswoman said, was to "further dialogue with Al Jazeera."

Following the meeting, Clinton was interviewed for Al Jazeera's "From Washington" program, moderated by Al Jazeera's Washington Bureau Chief, Abderrahim Foukara.

That interview will air Tuesday on Al Jazeera but has already made international news, with Clinton warning that Iran was slowly morphing into a military dictatorship.

Al Jazeera's English-language station recently began broadcasting in certain U.S. areas, including Washington, D.C.

Clinton, in meeting with top Al Jazeera staff, walked through a door that was first opened by Gen. Stanley McChrystal late last year as he was waging his public campaign on behalf of the surge.
