Tiniest Kitchens (PHOTOS)

First Posted: 04/18/10 06:12 AM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 04:30 PM ET

To celebrate The Week of Eating In, we at HuffPost Green have decided to ask for your help in gathering photos of tiny kitchens. We know plenty of urbanites who see small kitchens as a serious impediment to cooking, but we want to dispel the idea that you need a palace in order to do home cooking. For those of you out there who've cooked feasts of out tiny kitchens, we want to know about it!

CHECK THEM OUT HERE:

Send in photos of your tiny kitchen with a description of an amazing meal you cooked in it!

Somehow wonderful Thanksgiving meals are made here, along with Ginger/Carrot Soup, mandel bread, veggie stir fries, and walnut breads

Sorry, but those kitchens are not small. Anyone who's lived in NYC knows that...I have a friend who cooks fantastic meals out of his van. For real.

I have a theory that the people with the designer kitchens don't cook any better than those of us coping with ordinary appliances in less space.

The MOMA kitchen looks like something our of a 1940's railroad dining car. But it is very stylish.

What about these kitchens inside a box?

Personally, I'd prefer some windows

Love them all. I am one who goes for cozy much, much more than spacious. My kitchen has 1 drawer, about 2 feet of counters for a workspace, although the overall kitchen is not that small (full sized fridge, oven, counter space with microwave on it, dishwasher).

And I thought, my kitchen was tiny - after seeing this I think it is just small...

Those kitchens are huge! I have a tiny kitchen. Fridge/ Stove combo, my micro is on the book shelf, but I still can cook up a storm. If needed I can stick my tiny gas grill out the window and get a barbi going.

I just ran into my kitchen and did a few spins, thankful that i can walk more than two feet in any direction before I bump into something.

The real shocker is not the size of the kitchen but the size of the rent/mortgage that people are willing to pay for the small kitchen "priviledge".

helmboy's 'Small Kitchen Space' is not that small. Half the kitchens in town are smaller than that. We we bought out apartment it was scheduled to have 64 sq ft for kitchen AND dining. We had them push the wall out on the balcony and ended up with 54 sq ft of kitchen and a massive 64 for dining. Our friends think we are rich.

I know Americans who live in large homes, large fancy kitchens, oversized appliances, lots of pantry space, and they cook for their family once a week. Waste of money and space.

I've done some work in big houses with beautiful, yet unused kitchens like you mention and I fantasize about all the awesome things I could do. Then I go back to my malfunctioning hotplate and rice cooker--rice and beans again tonight...sigh.
