First Posted: 4/17/10   Updated: 5/25/11

The Vancouver Olympics saw some exciting developments on Monday. Bode Miller returned to Olympic form and captured a bronze medal, while American Seth Wescott completed a stunning comeback to win gold. Meanwhile, a Chinese pair capped a nearly two-decade career together by winning the pairs skating gold medal. We've included some of the best photos from Monday's action below. Which is the best?

South Korea's Mo Tae-Bum and Jeremy Wotherspoon of Canada face off in the men's speedskating 500m final. Mo prevailed to win the gold.

What's the deal with the blue lines in the snow. Hate 'em.

Gives the competitors points of reference to gauge depth. They are essential in flat light conditions when the light makes bumps and dips indistinguishable. Prevents lots of injuries.

"Stunning" threatens to be yet another word overused to the point of nausea.

Try a thesaurus. Overuse soon takes all meaning and impact from words that once were pretty good descriptors. It's a shame to ruin a perfectly good language because of ignorance.

How to watch the Olympics on the west coast: Watch the first ten minutes and see what the big events will be, turn on ESPN and get the results, turn off NBC and read a book.
02:12 PM on 02/16/2010
Why waste your time with NBC?

Between Costas, commercials, delayed broadcast and flag waving there's little to watch in terms of real competition.

Once again NBC and corporate AMERICA, and the IOC, have ruined the Olympics.

I enjoy watching what I can. The olympics and high level excellence always gives me such cries of joy!, of celebration of excellence. There's no feeling like that. I am grateful to watch what I can.

Where is the picture of Dorian Grey Costas?
02:06 PM on 02/16/2010
DO YOU THINK YOU COULD STOP PUTTING PHOTOS, RESULTS, AND SPOILERS ON THE FRONT PAGE???

What's wrong with you people? At least make me go to your Olympics page or Sports page in order to be exposed to spoilers... that way I kind of know what I'm getting myself into. But having blatant results, photos, headlines, spoilers, etc., on the front page when I just want to look at politics and news, well that's just total out and out journalistic irresponsibility and disregard for your readers.

If it hasn't aired on NBC yet, you should not be posting pictures and results.

Come on... do you want us to not go to your site for two weeks???
02:42 PM on 02/16/2010
Also, you would have to avoid more than the Huffington Post, since the results are online quickly after the results happen live. NBC should show the games as they happen. It must be very annoying and frustrating that you are seeing the results before being allowed to watch it, though.
03:24 PM on 02/16/2010
We need them streaming live on the internet. NBC is worthless. In prior years, we have exclusively watched the CBC's coverage where you actually got to see the events. Unfortunately CBC is blocked this year because we live less than 100 miles from Vancouver.

it's CTV that's covering most of the Olympics in Canada this year. You thought NBC was bad?
12:50 PM on 02/16/2010
It's Bush's fault.

Just thought I would throw in the Victomat mantra in there.

Human's are innately competitive, and athletics are a lot less destructive and expensive than a military competition. It is essentially a ritualistic display of fitness, without the car nage.

"Human's are innately competitive"

Not true, humans are social animals. it's America's corporate powers that want to pit people against each other to boost their profits. No, you don't need to share, you need to buy a more expensive thing than your neighbour has, so that you can feel superior to him/her!! And, of course, it doesn't really matter how you make the money, just don't get caught doing something illegal or unethical, it's all that counts.

Why? What's wrong with these sporting events? I really enjoyed the snowboarding competitions and figure skating is always a pleasure to watch. Much prefer these winter sports than those at the summer olympics too. It was nice to see the snowboarders so friendly with each other too after the event was over. Those who didn't won the races were genuinely happy for those who did and that's the olympic spirit.

Maybe I am missing something - but I was thinking how Russia is not front and center in the Olympics this time. And then I thought - they are almost invisible everywhere.

Anybody else think Russia is being very quiet on all fronts lately? It is like they have rolled up the sidewalks and are having secret meetings. What are they up to?

Why'd they mod me this time?

It's because they no longer have all of those satellite countries that have trainers of their own and are winning medals of their own.

Which would you rather be--an Olympic gold medal winner or a millionaire?

I'd take the medal! I consider the Olympics to be one of the highest goals a person can achieve. (Not that there's anything wrong with cold, hard cash, however . . .)

I get so completely invested in these games, I can't even say why. Even the sports I know nothing or care nothing about, become interesting. It's the human stories behind the sports, I am sure.

CTV has coverage across too many different channels. TSN is showing events. SportsNet covers other events. Even OLN was showing coverage. I need a tv that allows me to watch 4 channels at once.

Yawn. The Winter Olympics are an absolute bore. Apart from Hockey and some of the downhill skiing events, who the heck wants to watch figure skating or ice dancing? It' just ridiculous.

Yeah, because the Summer Olympics with people running in circles, bicycling, and synchronized swimming is a thirill a minute.
I'm not a big watcher of any particular Olympic activity, but if I had to watch, it would be the winter games. The luge, bobseld, speed skating, snowboarding, and downhill skiing are all exciting to me.

Ice hockey is not very televisable because the puck is so small and so fast. If the puck were the size of a soccer ball I bet you'd find it a pretty exciting game.
