Thanks Bob, for reminding me not to ever vote for a republican.

I am Virginian in Richmond and I knocked on many doors to defeat macdonnel. Creigh Deeds would not get help from Obama or fight hard. Virginians had a very low turn out for this election. An heiress to Black Entertainment television came out as a republican because she was anti gay so there was not so much support for Deeds. This is a real tragedy. We were one of the best run states and we only had much less unemployment than the rest of the country with democratic leaders. We had some of the best schools in the country and now all of that is lost. We unfortunately have a lot of low information voters. I speak my mind to many of them but they follow the right blindly and do not think for themselves at all. It is realy sad that the birthplace of the U.S. is being taken over by these know nothing idiots.

Someone else may have written about this (these huff guys have to know reading 6+ pages of comments gets tedious... so I and many don't) so sry in advance.

First thing that comes to my mind is... If this guy had left out the word COLOR (or any of the other words for that matter) by "executive order"... would it still be legitimate? or are certian words protected differently than others? If the state can do it can other companies in the state discriminate gays now too? Has the first lawsuit to challenge this (insert your own expletive here) action, been filed yet? Nobody will quit in protest, in light of our current job market... so I predict it will be written back in, or there's gonna be a lot closets revisited.

And yet McDonnell is going to cut social services spending in order to reopen 19 highway reststops that were previously closed. SO he's making it easier for closeted Republican married men (a la Larry Craig) to have secret gay sex!

Ever since LBJ passed the Civil Rights Act, the Republicans have pandered to the most reactionary elements in the country. How else can they trick masses of people into voting against their own financial security, their own health care? The Republicans are now the snake-oil salesmen of inartiulate rage.

Rescinding laws that protect gay Americans -- is anyone surprised? The Republicans are now the Party of Hate, the Party of Bigotry, and the Party of the No-Nothings. The Southern Strategy has morphed into the Evangelical Agenda.

But please don't call them bigots, racists or homophobes. That hurts their feelings. That eats into their presumptions of moral superiority. That makes them scramble to project those ugly names back out at their foes. So somehow it's the gays that have the agenda, Obama who is the racist, and Christians who are persecuted.

In fact, the Republicans have made themselves a very small tent indeed. Small people with narrow views pining for 19th century America, preferably pre-Civil War.

Well, Mary Cheney -- Virginia's most prominent lesbian -- probably voted for this guy. I'm guessing her dad, Dick, did too.

This is a horrific step backwards. I wrote a condemnation piece, here:

Let's see, what else was in his doctoral thesis? Oh, yes, next we make sure all the women are at home, barefoot and pregnant, so that out family structure is preserved.
The people of Virginia heard this man's true agenda and they still voted him in. They deserve what they get!

JASON MATTERA THIS IS YOUR LIFE !!!!!!!

Whites-Only Scholarship Revisited
by Jason Mattera
RNC Chairman Ed Gillespie has much to worry about: a soaring deficit, low approval ratings for President Bush, and an amnesty program that has Bush’s conservative base fuming. So what is Gillespie’s next move? Writing to a 20-year-old College Republican. His letter scolded me for sponsoring a much-publicized "whites-only" scholarship, a political gesture designed as a parody to protest affirmative action and race-based scholarships handed out by federally-subsidized universities.

Just when you think the dems are so hopeless that you want to give up on the hope and change, along comes a republican and rips his mask off to reveal the party's true intentions: Take away our freedoms.

I was watching a conservative spokesman for APAC on C-Span today and he said that conservatives are for freedom. When people called in to ask him questions, nobody asked him the obvious question: Mr. Keene are you for the freedom of gays to marry the consenting adult of their choice or is that freedom not allowed to gays? How do you define "freedom"?

I would urge dems to put this quesiton to repubs when they blab on and on about "freedom" because the media sure as heck isn't going to do it (at least not in an effective manner).
