NASA WISE Pictures: INCREDIBLE Photos From NASA's Space Explorer

In December 2009, NASA launched its Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE), a sky-mapping spacecraft that was blasted into space to scan for comets, asteroids, and other unknown celestial bodies.

Just today, NASA released the first images from the WISE mission.

These early WISE images showcase a 'diverse cast of cosmic characters,' said NASA in a press release.

'We've got a candy store of images coming down from space,' the principal investigator for WISE, Edward Write of UCLA, said. 'Everyone has their favorite flavors, and we've got them all.'

Check out WISE's incredible new images in the slideshow below.
