Harold Ford Jr

The New York Observer:

Last month, just after gay activist Jon Winkleman interrupted a lunch meeting between prospective Senate candidate Harold Ford Jr. and scores of the borough's elected leaders--an antic for which the activist was promptly thrown out--Mr. Winkleman promised reporters they would see him again.

he couldn't tell the truth bout who he was married too therefore the voters sat at home. he should re-think his strageties and stop lying for once.

I loved how Stephen Colbert challenged Ford on his changing his political stances on gay marriage and abortion. Ford claims he didn't change his stances. But he, like many other politicians, forgets there are things like cameras and audio recorders. Even if they are talking somewhere without cameras, someone is going to have a cell phone to record what they are saying.

I don't know what Harold Ford's positions are on those issues. I could have sworn he was changing from where he had been. Also he said his "pro-life" stance was only the embrace of the slogan, not the policy. If the guy is neither anti-choice, nor anti-gay now, it seems excessive to protest him that way. You could go and ask him what his positions.

Harold Ford mentioned getting pedicures done, which is a sort of gay-ish and "metro-sexual". I think he did that in order to court gay constituents. That gesture ought to be worth something.

I'm "open-minded" about Harold Ford's candidacy just because every time there's a competition between two or more politicians, that give voters a chance to play them against each other on some issue.

For instance, what about drug policy? Any difference between Ford and Gillibrand there? Any chance either one of them will at least give an indication that they might be amenable to thinking outside of the zone of "conventional wisdom" on that topic?

Likewise, I'm "open-minded" about the potential of Andrew Cuomo's run for Governor for the same reason. Having two visions for New York presented to voters may be better than one. David Paterson is decent and he seems amenable to creative ideas, sport-fighting, for example. What about Andrew Cuomo? Any "outside-the-box" ideas on personal quantities of recreational substances?

At first I thought this statement was a joke, but now I'm not so sure. First, there is nothing gay about a pedicure. Thjis is all in your mind. This type of thinking comes off as prehistoric and simply stupid. Gay people are supposed to give him credit for a statement like that? Gay people want equal rights, not pedicures.

Harold Ford is a liar.

How do we know that for sure?

He's a politician.

It's called a tautology.

What's wrong with holding a candidate to what they've said? Nothing. Keep up the good work, Winkleman and "The Power".
