CNN legal analyst Jeff Toobin was in court Wednesday for a case of his own, according to the New York Daily News.

Toobin, 49, appeared in Manhattan Family Court along with rumored former lover Casey Greenfield, the 36-year-old daughter of CBS News analyst Jeff Greenfield. Greenfield gave birth to a baby boy last spring, and though she wouldn't say then, the Daily News reports she now claims Toobin is the father.

From the Daily News:

The ex-lovers barely spoke in the waiting area before joining their lawyers behind closed doors with a court referee to hash out custody and money issues.

Toobin, who glumly sat several rows away from Casey Greenfield before the hearing, is said to have privately admitted to fathering the child, believed to have been born last summer, sources said.

A friend of Greenfield's said the outspoken Toobin has resisted putting his name on the infant's birth certificate and hasn't given his former lover the child support she's requested.

Both Toobin and Greenfield declined to comment on the court appearance to the Daily News, as did their lawyers.

Toobin has two children with wife Amy McIntosh, who he married in 1986. The Daily News reports he was wearing his wedding ring in court.

What is it with celebrity males who father illegitimate children? Are they too chicken to get vasectomies?

The fact that the man cheated is bad enough, but this man didn't even have the good sense to keep it wrapped and not get someone pregnant. If a man cheated on me, I might be able to forgive. However, there has to be some rules to the game. No babies, don't do it in my house, with my friends and relatives. Why do women continue to stay married to men who have absolutely NO consideration for them?

Sounds like an idea for a winning cable channel. Constant reruns of "Cheaters" and coverage of the latest celebrity infidelities and apologies.
07:51 PM on 02/19/2010
Where's my apology, Jeff?

Grow up! Ya think cheating just started?! It's marriage that's outlived its usefulness. You know what they say: Marriage is the leading cause of divorce.

Maybe we could all just accept that marriage is a dead institution (especially for women, because no men are faithful).

And then we could all stop talking about everyone's sex lives.
03:53 PM on 02/19/2010
Let's see.... If marriage is a dead institution to you and many others, what obstacles are standing in your way to live this ideology? None. A dear friend of mine married young, dream wedding, put her husband through law school, he dumped her right after. She swore of marriage and has lived that way. She's been in a long term relationship and raised a child. There are lots of people who do not believe in marriage and own that decision. There doesn't need to be a consensus. Living according to one's ideals is the privilege of a democracy. IMO, men who don't believe in marriage should get a vascectomy. It's much more empowering for your ideal. Why allow yourself to be dragged into court on the whims of an emotional female? Why put children through that? Let women go to sperm banks and be done with it. Also, why do men who cheat not insist on precautions? There's a lot of hypocrisy in sexual politics and screwing around. The truth: a lot of men couldn't get laid unless they lied. Which is why they're the first to push for the sweeping agreement that marriage is a dead institution. Way to get carte blanche, not to mention p%^&%y with no strings attached.

Toobin and Jeff Greenfield's daughter ought to be ashamed of themselves. This woman is 36 years old, old enough to know better than to mess around and get pregnant by a married man.

I think they should both apologize to the American people.
