Elle Style Awards 2010: Fashion Freak Show Or Sartorial Spectacular? (PHOTOS, POLL)

First Posted: 04/24/10 06:12 AM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 04:35 PM ET

On the heels of Sunday night's uber-elegant BAFTAs, a bevy of A-, B- and C-listers (or interestingly dressed Brits of whom you may never have heard) turned up at Monday night's Elle Style Awards in London. Outfits ranged from disastrous to divine. But which was which? You be the judge!

I have a vintage 1930s minx that I picked up for $40. I hate that Americans are so close-minded that I can't wear it anywhere. If Peta had half a conscience, they would be doing something useful like teaching school children in poor areas or working for homeless services. While I do not like the recent industrialization of farming and - I guess - clothing, we have been living with domesticated animals for over 6,000 years. Care about something that will actually make the world better for all.

Vintage fur is fine in my book...wear it anyway, let the naysayers be damned!

There's some really incredible synthetic fur out there now...don't assume everything you're seeing came off an animal. I just made a kitty bed out of fake lynx that honestly looks virtually identical to the real thing (and it cost a bunch, too). There are whole companies specializing in high-end fake fur now.

Claudia Schiffer looks best by a long shot.

Agnes Deyn looks so much better with dark hair.

Ok people, let's be safe out there!

I found this very encouraging. I've never considered myself fashionable, and in fact have always thought I was fashion-challenged, but this slide show now convinces me that I'm ahead of the fashion curve. It's a shame that so many women with big money didn't invest in a little help. More than 50% of these things are hideous!

Oh thank g0d that grizzly I hit on the way to the show ended up on one of the skeleskanks. I'd hate for the poor b.ugger to go to waste.

i would love to see the dress rosie huntington murphy has on without the fur. it looks great except for the fact it looks like any woman wearing will end up tripping on it.

the leona lewis dress looks like a retread of a better dress.

carey mulligans outfit is the absolute best.

like the jacket jade jagger is wearing.

Maybe Peta people should show up with the carcasses of the animal skin they are wearing... somehow acquire them and freeze them until they need them.. then wear them like the furs...

I mean if the outside of the animal is so beautiful why not the inside?? So many humans preach valuing people on the inside! Why not animals!!

There's a whole lot of very realistic-looking synthetic fur out there now...don't assume everything you're seeing came off an animal these days.

Ahhh, Agyness Deyn, the one that fell down twice the other day. She is a beauty for sure, because she actually showed a human side and laughed at herself for falling.

Other than that, I have no opinion on the fashion itself. Not my thing.

Some of the ugliest clothing I have EVER seen. Cool? Funky? Not to me.

Maybe not.

No! It's the cured skin of a dead animal, dumbo. Probably the same as the skin you wear on your feet, or what your handbag is made out of.

FINALLY - some cool, funky, slightly edgy fashion! So tired of the recent "red carpet looks" that are all the same look - the one-shoulder, high slit, sleek gown, only drama being what color.
This is way better!!
Plus the Fashion Week pics were tiring, might as well have been called the Deathly Hallows week, the models all looked dire, sour, and skeletal.
This is much more refreshing!
And where was Gaga??
